Question about perks

Am I able to advance in other perks even if I'm already a specific class?

Let's say I'm a sharpshooter and I use the shotgun, will it be calculated in the Support Specialist perk?

That's weird. I only asked that because I played as Sharpshooter, got some headshots, and then switched to some other class and it didn't count my headshots (same weapons)!

My level 4 sharpshooter pal says the headshots seem to be calculated either really strangely or they're just broken. He uses levor rifle and handcannons, says he has to kill 2 clots with headshots for it to increase by 1 and quite often it just doesn't go up, no matter what he kills.
