Americans do like saying that, but you never actually place first on thouse "best country to live" lists, infact you rarely make the top-10 (the USA placed 13'th last time i belive, it's usually just shy of the top-10), the winners are usually Finland, Norway, Switzerland, Ireland and the like.

The main reason Switzerland and the Scandinavian countries are sometimes rated higher (at least from what I have studied and what I understand) is that they are much more culturally and socially homogeneous (no where near as diverse as the US) which eliminates a lot of social problems. But, then again, I've never been there, so I really shouldn't be talking. And, this is politics.

Nah, thouse 3 don't usually score first place in thease lists, they do have some poverty issues beeing old Soviet turf and all that.. though admittedly, some would argue that Finland is a Baltic country (the Fintards themselves seem to disagree however).
