[Sport] The Euro 2008 Thread

Also the first goal was not offside because one of the italians was outside the field apparantly.

Official rules say

"If a defending player steps behind his own goal line in order to place an opponent in an offside
position, the referee shall allow play to continue and caution the defender for deliberately
leaving the field of play without the referee’s permission when the ball is next out of play."

But there's no way he stepped behind his own goal line, he got clobbered there and did not get back up. Aside from that the offside rule only applies between the 2 goal lines, nothing to do with behind it.

No point arguing it mind, too late now!

n point arguing about that goal, but about the rule! nitpicks ftw!
i say the decision was right. that guy got hit by his own goalie, so the oranjes didnt even have any influence on that. ok, i see that guy probably really hurt himself, but if this wasnt counted as an offside officially, all the defenders would jump dive behind that line and pretend to have some kind of injury (you know footballers love to drop and pretend that something really hurts) next time.
anyway oranje would still have won. although the italians got a few 100% chances, even in the first half, they werent able to make use of them. they deserved to lose.

That's a bit harsh, Croatia are far worse divers than Italy these days.

Ya, we're horrible. Too bad England's not here, they're lovely chaps. They make us LOL.
