STALKER Mega-Thread; Clear Skies are Coming!

A mod for stalker that is still under development (english translation is due quite soon from all reports) is AMK Mod:

I played through stalker as is (mind you with repair & trader mods) and I found it quite fun, I wanted something that would enhance the Alife of the engine and AMK looks to be doing that, amongst other things, people now loot dead bodies & stashes, there's a quest to get a flamethrower (not sure if it is in 1.4 ver though) a communication system between the stalkers where kills, battles, etc are reported and there is work being done to make NPCs use medkits, etc. I've personally turned off the blow outs and made it so that none of the animals / zombies / whatever dont attack me, only the humans as I pretty much just want to fight the humans in the game, not mutated freaks lol either way, it is breathing life back into the game for me so i can kill more bandits :)

Anyone else try the MP, I finally uninstalled every last mod and patched to 1.006 and gave it a shot.

I actually found five other people to play on a low ping server. I have to say, the excellent shooting mechanics from the SP game completely carry over to MP, dynamic weather and time of day are great too. The maps are just awesome, huge but at the same time intricate. In fact for the first few minutes I overwhelmingly felt I was playing RO2.

But then the problems set in. I really hate the gameplay mode on offer - team deathmatch with points for weapons buying. Random spawning locations, no front lines etc. it just felt confusing and unrewarding. Oddly even with a low ping, at close range avatars were warping all over the place. I dont know if this was people cheating, or bad netcode, but I never saw this at long range - kind of the inverse of Arma. Avatars also move way too fast - to the point of Quake-like juking and jiving. Heck even COD4 gets this right.

Overall it's obvious MP wasn't the focus for the devs, but I wish the mod community would have been given the chance to throw some custom maps and mods in because the fundamentals are definitely there in a big way.
