Gran Turismo:HD finally gets....

Heh, I know that. To be more specific, I was wondering how the hell am I supposed to press the triangle on the PS3 controller if I have my two hands busy steering and shifting gears on my G25... [EDIT]OR you mean the triangle is used as a clutch only if you play without a wheel?

Last thing, do you atleast plan on buying a PS3?

man you only need to press it once for each race at the start to activate it, then you use the clutch pedal on the G25! :D

you need to engage the clutch after the start of every race by pressing the "triangle" button on the controller or the associated button mapped to the G25.

yeah I do want a PS3 for GT5 and MGS4, and maybe GTA4

see I haven't decided if I want to get it now fo GT5:p or wait for GT5 is out before I get a PS3. It will be cheaper by then

plus I don't have a HD TV, and they are not cheap. So I will need something like HD Fury or the cheaper VDigi cable to run it on my Sony G520 21 inch CRT monitor
Although some larger widescreen LCD can run the PS3 through HDMI at 1080p

Another GT5P patch is out today.

Online play
- The award of race credits are now allocated at a fixed rate regardless of the number of race participants.
- The High Speed Ring course diagram has been fixed.
- Some online ID's were appearing in grey in the entry list, this has been amended.
- Some online opponents appeared to "blur", this has been amended.
- Country and area information now appears next to the online ID in the ranking boards.
- Unusually high scores had been recorded in some Drift Trials, this has been rectified.
- When Drift Trial replays were saved, occasionally these appeared in the "Load as Ghost" option of Time Trials.
This has now been rectified.
Performance Points (PP)
- The method of calculating Performance Points has been revised, to balance vehicles in events with PP upper limits.
Miscellaneous
- LCD display has been added in the F2007 interior view.
- Some interiors and exteriors of some vehicle models have been revised.
- On occasion the Quick Tune gear ratio became impossible to reset in some cars, this has been amended.

- In line with the application of the update, all ranking data will also be reset.

nothing been said, so who knows

but a damage update is in the works, and maybe weather changes.

GT5 will be out in 2009, maybe at the end of 2009, so it's not too far away :)
I see.

End of 2009 not too far away? You're quite an optimist :D

Also, there's something confusing the **** out of me. I went to the GT5 official website: http://www.granturismoworld.com/fr-ch/gt5_prologue/garage/index.htm and checked the cars and counted around 35 models...

Then I went to check a review: http://www.jeuxvideo.com/jeux/0001/00019183.htm and it says on the 2nd line of text it 6 tracks and 70 cars!?

Seeing as your the GT5 expert round here, how many cars are there do you reckon?

THe original GT5:p demo didn't have many cars

the current GT5:p you can buy in the shops has around 70 cars
This is a Prologue to the real GT5

The proper full GT5 getting released in 2009 is rumoured to have over 400 cars and maybe as many as 900 :)
****in' A!! And the full GT5 alone warrants buying a PS3

And you've made your job: I'm a full fledged GT5 fan without having played it yet (soon) :D

but more importantly lots of race tracks, both real and imagined :)

Hopefully with some bodywork customisation for the cars, ie like back in GT2 you could turn the road cars into race cars by reducing weight and then buy the Race body upgrade, that adds all the spoilers, bodywork and livery
Since the cars in GT5 are all modelled in sections, I don't see why not

buying new wheels from real wheel companies should be back

a Sim racer's impression

I finally bought a PS3 this weekend, mostly as a media centre but also to hook up to my G25 with GT5 Prologue. As most people here, I've got loads of experience in Simbin/ISI sims to contrast with GT5 Prologue.

In short: It's better than I expected. Graphically it's utterly fantastic obviously, but in pro mode with all driver aids off you actually get the feeling of car weight and balance. Most importantly car behaviour is predictable and logical, unlike my previous experience with console-grown "sims". Hotlapping involves the same skills I use in rFactor. In fact, the rFactor Lexus IS-F or Corvette C6 mods offer a very similar driving experience to GT5 Prologue, complete with squealing road tires in both sims

I'm not going to say GT5 is better than PC sims, and particularly in force feedback it loses out to Simbin games, but it's a very valid alternative which no longer needs to be excused as a "console game".

Oh, and replay mode is jaw droppingly amazing. I've never seen anything so close to photorealistic, from the locations, to the heat haze to the car reflections. The way the cars move, the way their weight shifts is just so much more refined than anything I've ever seen before. Unlike a typical well-made rFactor mod, you don't catch yourself thinking "that car animation looks pretty realistic", because it's so close to real that you don't think about such things.

If you think of GT5 Prologue as pornography for car lovers (have a blast and drive something fast round the track, then spend just as long watching the replay), it makes loads of sense

Looks good and plays good. Didn't play it enough to have a definitive opinion though, will post more as I play it.

The G25 works like a charm though it's a shame you can't configure it specifically like you can with cheaper knock-off versions of the Logitech wheels already in the options menu.

Definitely worth looking if you love car games.

I'm glad I waited before getting a PS3

controller with rumble makes games that much better

The fact that Sony is replacing the Sixaxis with the Dual Shock 3 makes the buying decision easier for new PS3 owners. Anyone looking for additional controllers will soon be able to buy only the Dual Shock 3 as the Sixaxis disappears from retail. Early adopters who have already bought extra Sixaxis controllers face a more difficult decision of whether or not to replace one or more of their working Sixaxis controllers with Dual Shock gamepads, given that each controller costs almost as much as a new Blu-ray game. Rumble vibration feedback makes it worthwhile to replace at least one controller right now. You can always replace the others as they break. Sony will eventually bundle all systems with the Dual Shock 3, but those looking to buy a complete package guaranteed to contain a rumble controller might have to wait for the Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3 bundle coming out this June
