This one is looking good, I tried the demo and I'm addicted to it

official site: www.codemasters.com/jericho

it sometimes has a bit of a consolish feeling, the demo is short and very easy... BUT somehow, I cant stop playing it, it just feels good, just open your mind a little bit

the game is pure gore (it wont be released for consoles in Germany) the graphics and ambient are great

specially recommended for bloodthirsty maniacs

Which basically is the new way of developers saying it's a port
Lmao. Yeah gotta love the PR talk. Well anyway I'm a huge fan of Undying (Clive Barkers previous game) so Jericho...well maybe Barker can pull it through despite the likely console origins. I will have to try the demo but not today, another day perhaps.

is not a port, its been released in all platforms at the same time (like most of the games today)

Doesen't matter when its released, if it was build for console, and then made playable on the PC, but without changing the game for PC, then its a port.

As for Jericho, i have a hard time getting excited about that one, it looks very Doom3, scary monsters ohh noes, bang bang, but with escort added (and escort is the bane of good gameing!).

Maybe i should just try the demo.. *sigh*, but demo's are so bloody big thease days, yet still only contain but a glimpse of gameplay, its hardly worth the trouble.

Can you tell i just woke up and im grumpy? i thought so..

well, I'm quite sure it has been developed having all of them in mind at the same time, even PC if you ask me, and this is only a demo, so I think that a lot of consolish stuf wont be in the retail game, and just to make it clear, the PC version is stil better anyway, better graphics and keyboard+mouse > gamepad, most of the enemies die by a single headshot from most of the guns, their heads blow up like watermelons, even having those console aimbots, I doubt the console users can enjoy this part of the game

screens and videos make them look like doom3 indeed, but when you play it the concept is dramatically diferent, this is not as dark as doom, and you wont be expecting to have enemies jump from nowhere, so, you dont have this sensation that you are going to get your *** kicked any minute by something, this is the complete opposite situation where you sayy, "come on, bring me more monsters dammit!"

the only negative point I see is that is too easy, you can't change the dificulty in the demo, I just hope this onee changes for the retail version

Multi platform is really the same as a straight port, since the console is the most limited machine, you have to constantly build things with the console in mind, and not the PC, so the end result is the same, consolification.

Some games have done it propper though, and made sepperate versions for console and PC, where the PC version has all new mouse freindly menu's, and the game is much harder so we are still challenged despite having much better control, but you see that all too seldomly, and both the console and PC version is the same, and ends up beeing way too easy on the PC with annoying menu's and lacking in features that you have come to know from PC only titles.

Well that does make it sound more promising (i really hate Doom3'ish monster closet, constant respawn gameplay, and will take an opposite to it any day), and i can forgive too easy gameplay if the atmosphere and level design makes up for it, but we wont really know if it will till we see the full monty.

they don't

A quick visit to their website shows its cross platform, cross platform has allways ment "console first, PC later", simply because the console is.. wait, im repeating myself here, scroll up you lazy gits! :p

its no more consolish than bioshock (game that I didnt like at all because the weapons dont feel good, but stil has a 16 page thread here)

Yup, and in said 16 pager, Bioshock takes alot of flack for it, but you probably know that allready.

actually, I dont, I saw the thread when it was 4 pages long, I just checked it now to see the current number of pages, I didnt play the game itself, just the demo, but it was enough to convince me that that game was all hype, I just cant stand how human beings take a bullet in the head and keep moving like nothing happened, and when I finally got the Thomsom I said, oh finally a good weapon... then started shooting, lots of smoke, no accuracy, no damage, crappy sounds and effects then I said, time to uninstall this crap

about Jericho, the game feels good in PC, the consolish thing can easily be ignored or accepted with a little open mind, no big deal

Nowhere did i state that Bioshock was a good game. I cant stand it either, for all its overhypedness, and it feels very consolish as well.
As a pc only gamer i'm FED UP with that kind of bull**** games

True, but considdering that this is the way its been done since.. ohh i dont know, the Playstation 1 hit the market, i'd say there's a solid track record pointing in that direction, woulden't you?

I can't possible believe that you know how the game was made. If you "got this itch" up in your ***, it doesn't mean you can go shouting "CONSOLE PORT LULZ CRAPOLA GAME!".

It would make more sense if they made the original textures in hi-res and resize them for the console version. And the menus.. oh well, I'll just adapt.
