Sniper scope view

Hiya guys.
Since the update the scope view in game has changed for me. It now takes up a lot less of the screen than it used to.
Apart from this fact it's VERY unrealistic to be able to see past the scope. All you should be able to see when you look through the scope is is what's inside the scope lense & nothing round the sides.

The scope size is a setting under display options. If you want the larger scope set the scope setting to "Model High". Also, saying its not realistic to see past the scope is totally wrong. I've got a real 91/30 sniper rifle sitting next to me right now. When I look down the scope, I see through the scope zoomed in, and everything around the scope is normal FOV. I don't just see what is inside the scope lense, even with one eye shut.

I don't know about you, but I have two eyes. When I use a scope I keep both eyes open but only focus with my scope eye. That way you are aware of whats happening around you. It's a failry common thing to do and particularly usefull when there is some one else out there trying to kill you.

I would guess most experienced marks men would have done this durring WW2 so I don't see any problem with the way scopes are displayed.

I have a SUSAT sight fitted to my personnal weapon for work (RAF) My eye is right against the scope & i have no field of view other than what i see through the scope.
Did they have the scope away from the eye or right up to it or was it personnal choice?
I must admit i've never fired a WW2 scoped weapon so i'm only going on my own experience with my SA80 (British forces weapon)
Didn't know about display option, i'll check it now.
Cheers.

almost all scopes are like that, very few I've ever seen (I've seen alot) have rubber eye pieces that (for some wierd reason) made to not let you see around you. one that comes to mind is the soviet pos series of scopes (found on SVD's and PSL's)

here's some links to see what the scopes look like

here are some british modern snipers

And an American

conclusion...RO's depection of a sniper scope is indeed accurate

As for the the L85 (Sa80) rifle, which I've indeed seen with a rubber eye piece, but you've got to remember, you are firing a 55 grain .223 bullet not a 147 grain 7.62x54R or a 198Grain 8mm mauser. so there is a big difference in recoil. but even so, rifles such as the SVT Dragunov which also fires the 7.62x54r it has a rubber eye piece but it is set far back, here

I am an amateur astronomer and I have found that keeping both eyes open while looking through an eyepiece is not only more comfortable but helps to see more detail in the stellar object I am viewing. However I do cover the eye I am not viewing with with my hand.

I would have to agree with those who feel that the scopes in RO are portrayed accurately.

Yeah, that doesn't work out so well with a 91/30 sniper. The PU scope is set up for, iirc, 4 inches of eye relief. The way it looks in-game is correct.

No we didn't use the FN. We used the SLR which was the same weapon but if i remember rightly the FN could be fired on auto. The SLR couldn't.
As for the SA80 the new L85 A2 is great now. I've heard no problems from the desert siince it came out. It's been fine when i've used it but bearing in mind i don't use it very often. Don't know where you got your info from Venom.
