new laptop

Its like 100 dollars more for another gigabyte. After looking on newegg, I saw they sell 2 x 1gb sticks for 90 shipped, if I end up needing it, Ill get that and install it, but I think for now 1 gb will suffice, unless I plan on getting a higher end vista, which I doubt.
Are you sure? 2 months ago i got 1Gb DDR2 @667Mhz for my laptop, for just 50€ (around $65).

It had a price drop around 4 months already.

I guess that depends on the make.
I've have a couple of Targa Laptops at work, all you need to do is open up a small hatch and swap the ram sticks.
Same thing for the hard drive, (one died only a couple of months ago).

They do get hot though, thats the thing that bothers me about laptops.
If you use them for half an hour and then "back to the office" fine.
I've got them running non-stop though, and you could fry an egg, so to speak.
They are not built to run non-stop, so...
