Repeated Dropping after connection.

My computer is on a hoe network where all internet traffic goes through an ISA server. We use Microsoft ISA server software for this, and all windows firewalls are not active. I did some more testing and found hat the game disconnects between 1:30 and 2:00 minutes after I double click on the server I want to play on.

it just looses your internet connection and then kicks you out. Are you using a wireless connection or whatever. In most games you might get a ping spike occasionally that you dont notice here if you loose connection you get kicked out :\.

Wait, I just realized this. the LOWEST (250 at best) ping servers I get using the ingame browser are in America, despite the fact that I live in Australia and one of Australia's servers (game arena) has a ping of around 500+ ? This make no sense geographically or technically as I'm on ADSL :confused:

Edit: Ok, I just tried this out ingame, said aussie server has a ping around 100 when I connect, comparable to what I get in other games. I still get dropped like I'm hot though.

After finally accepting that I may never be able to fully play the greatness that is RO, I boot up one of my other steam games (half life deathmatch).

I Drop after a few minutes.

So, it seems that my problem is STEAM based, not RO. The reason provided for my dropping is "Steam Connection Lost" I tried to google this but all I got was crap from CS-nation which didn't tell me anything. Should I submit a support ticket to steam? Keep in mind that by this point I've done the connectivity test and checked out fine and reinstalled STEAM.

i would try a traceroute http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traceroute That will tell you whats going on with your connection. (I had problems connecting to certain servers myself. It turned out my connection was taking a 4000 mile detour for some reason.) I have a buddy that has this happen to him as well and like a previous poster stated, its due to a random high fluctuation in his ping that causes the server to see him as timed out.

It's something on your machine, I have 3 machines on one router and on does the samething, 2-3 minutes and connection failed.... and that the brand new machine hardwired, my freak'n laptop running with a wireless works perfect! I still haven't had any luck on my end. tried the verify cash thing and defrag that thing. gonna frag something alright... and the kicker the server I'm being kick from is my own on my own network? what the hell!
