I don't know, if this is a good movie (kinda doubt about it), but still - it's about Eastern Front and has some battle scenes. This is one of them.

Doesn`t look too realistic.

Battlescene looks a bit like from Braveheart.

Big budget obviously though...With that kind of amount of money, they could have done also a very good realistic movie.

Ofcourse other scenes can be more realistic.

Well, this is series, and Russians just can't make good series. *sigh*
This movie tells a lot about femine and other things of usual life in Leningrad under the blockade, it's not only fighting - so quite a lot of the budget went onto other aspects.
But some of the guys here liked Shtrafbat, so I've decided to share this link with them.

Still pretty fake... and the acting in this one can be Really Helarious...

Didnt know you can blow a T34 with a lit bottle of vodka.... as if it was a Gas Powered Sherman...

Yeah seen that movie. While looking at that, I saw this one in the side menu. I can't tell if half of that is propaganda but has a cool Ramstein song though.

It's annoying that Russian and other eastern ww2 film are unable to pierce in europe and in the rest of the world.
Even if some are not the most historically accurate or are a piece of russian hollywood, they are still interresting and could fill the hole that the western country have about eastern front ( now we have the whole western front in video, some more in the eastern would be great)

If you're talking about 2002 years' remake, then yes, it's one of the few "new" Russian movies about WW2 that doesn't ****.
Glad that you've enjoyed it.

The 2002 Zvezda remake, I have that. Its one good film. Actually, i'm going to shamelessly admit it, it is the only film I have ever seen that made me cry.

Go watch then "A zori zdes tihie" / "The dawns are quiet here"! Very dramatic movie.
I think there is a version with english subtitles, but I'm not sure.
