Greetings, Tovarich!

The 181st Tank Brigade distinguished itself in some of the most decisive battles of WW II's Eastern Front including Stalingrad, Kursk, Kharkov, and the Red Army's drive West into the heart of The Third Reich.

As we carry on the tradition of this fine combat unit in the RO Realism Unit Community's "Eastern Front Operations" campaign, we are recruiting Tankers and Tankrider Infantrymen to join our Brigade. As you can see by our Battle Roster at

The action in the campaign is intense and the need for new recruits to be trained and ready to join us in battle is immediate. Our unit offers competent and mature leadership, fun and relaxed fellowship, and a challenging tactical environment to enjoy with your comrades in the Brigade as well as with members of the other RO Realism Community units we meet in battle.

"Eastern Front Operations" Campaign Update

Comrades!

After our successful defense against crack enemy troops of the 11th SS attacking Bondarevo in Sector XII, we have been chosen by STAVKA for the glorious counter-attack to free our homeland from the savage invaders!

181st Tank Brigade attacks from Sector XIV into Sector XI at Barashka. This area is defended by the 9th and 2nd SS. We must push the Germans back across the border and off of sacred Soviet soil to recapture this sector.

To our north, our comrades of 8th Guards and 193rd Rifle are attacking from Sector XIII into Sector III against the 20th Panzergrenadiers to seize the city of Danzig. 3rd Shock Army is attacking from Sector XII into Sector II to seize the Rakowice airfield from 11th SS.

In reserve the Germans have 5th SS and 5th Gebirgsjager to support their attempts to hold us back, but to no avail. Our gallant Red Army will crush the invaders and drive them across their homeland to the very gates of Berlin!

Tenacious defense by German Panzer and Panzergrenadier forces have halted our counter-attack. With the severe Russian Winter setting in, we don't expect any further offensive operations by the Germans until after the holidays.. but you never can tell about the crafty Hun!

RO Players.. answer the call to defend Mother Russia.. join 181st Tank Brigade in our valiant struggle against the invaders. Tankers and Tankrider Infantry recruits are always welcome at our HQ!

The Eastern Front Operations Campaign was started to get the members of RO's "Realism Unit" community involved in regular battles against enemy units. Having a map and long tern objectives to our fights added a lot more flavor and interest than just arranging inter-unit scrims. It's been a LOT of fun.

VICTORY AT ARAD!​

In a grueling and deadly close in combined-arms assault on the tenacious 20th Panzergrenadier defenders of Arad, 181st Tank Brigade emerges victorious and re-captures EFO map sector XII for the Motherland.

Well fought 20th Panzergrenadier! Our compliments and respect to you for your Panzertruppen and Grenadiers performance of duty tonight, and we look forward to the opportunity to return the favor and engage in some infantry only battles in EFO against you very soon.

VICTORY AT BONDAREVO!​

181st Tank Brigade leads the Red Army's advance into enemy territory with a highly successful combined arms attack that captures the EFO map's Axis Sector III for our beloved Motherland!

Our compliments to the Panzertruppen and Grenadiers of the 5th SS "Wiking" Division. We are very happy that we finally had the opportunity to fight a battle with this very fine unit, and we look forward to many more fun EFO fights with them in the near future.

“This is the B.B.C., and here is the 6 o’clock news…”

Turning to events on the Eastern Front, reports from the Soviet High Command indicate their current counter-offensive has met with great success and they are continuing to attack the Axis forces all along the front.

:) The 181st Tank Brigade, attacking east and west from Allied map sector XIII with two armored task forces, forced the German 20th Panzergrenadier and 5th SS Panzer Divisions from their defenses at Arad and at Bondarevo. These successful attacks re-captured Allied map sector XII from the Germans and brought the Red Army’s forces into enemy held territory for the first time in this campaign with the capture of Axis map sector III. :)

A supporting attack by 8th Guards Division against 20th Panzergrenadier defenses at Makhno Village in Axis map sector II was repulsed with heavy losses. Both units have withdrawn to reserve positions to re-fit and prepare for further operations.

To the east, the treacherous weather and terrain conditions of the Crimea disrupted the Soviet 3rd Shock Army and 193rd Rifle Division’s maneuvers to bring overwhelming forces against the German 5th Gebirgsjager Division in defensive positions around Budapest. The Soviet lead elements were repulsed and the Germans retain control of Allied map sector XI.

Information on Soviet reserve forces is being kept under tight control by STAVKA and their dispositions are unknown at this time. Partisan unit reconnaissance reports that the German 1st, 2nd, 5th and 9th SS Divisions, the 20th Panzergrenadier Division, and the Croatian 369th Infantry Regiment are preparing for a massive counter-attack expected to begin immediately.

On the Eastern Front, a new German offensive has begun with a shifting of the Axis' main effort to the Northwest.

Partisan reconnaissance reports indicate the German 3rd SS Panzer Division is maneuvering in Axis map sector II to attack the city of Odessa and re-capture Axis map sector III recently taken by the Soviet 181st Tank Brigade. The 181st Tank has dispatched its dismounted elements to defend the city.

The German 5th SS Panzer Division is moving from Axis map sector II to threaten Allied map sector XIII and their reconnaissance elements have been spotted in the area of the Rakowice Airfield by forward security elements of 3rd Shock Army / 193rd Rifle Division who are digging in to defend the critical installation.

Further to the East, the German 20th Panzergrenadier Division is conducting a supporting attack from Axis controlled Allied map sector XI moving North to Allied sector XII. The Soviet 8th Guards Army, preparing defenses in the Baksan Valley region, also report that the 5th Gebirgsjager Division elements remaining after that unit's bloody but successful repulse of Soviet attacks on Danzig have been re-organized with the 20th Panzergrenadiers.

In a return to the front from their reserve position, the German 9th SS Panzer Division has been committed to an end-around move that is attempting to roll up the flank of the Soviet line by attacking Allied map sector XIV from Axis occupied Allied map sector XI. 181st Tank Brigade has been ordered to move a task force to meet this threat and the Russian tankers are busily preparing defenses at Arad.

Information on Soviet reserve forces remains under tight security by STAVKA and their dispositions are unknown at this time. The German 1st and 2nd SS Panzer Divisions and the Croatian 369th Infantry Regiment remain uncommitted behind the front lines in preparation for exploitation of any Axis breakthroughs.
