Merkava vs. Finnish PASI APC:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3XvOKjB_uU

Can anyone recognize the submodel of Merkava here?

It looks like a Merkava I, maybe a II. Definitely not a III or IV.

Also, the vehicle doing the pushing looks like a NagmaSho't.

As for the poll...
I was always a huge Merkava fan, until last summer's fighting in Lebanon showed it to have real weaknesses in crew protection. Which was always supposed to be its strength. Without knowing more about the fighting, though, it's hard to tell if another tank would have done better.

Of the other tanks on the list, the one which seems to have the fewest weaknesses, and a solid combat record, is the Challenger 2. It gets my vote.

Now what the US should do is start mounting something like that GAU-8 Avenger cannon on a main battle tank. At 3900 rounds per minute, how many enemy tanks do you suppose it could kill before one of them trained their big, slow main gun on it?

I take it your tongue was wedged firmly in your cheek when you posted that :D , have you seen just how huge the GAU gun is?, how much space is taken up with ammo storage?, electrics etc.

no such thing. All tanks are better than the others at something.. so you'd be looking for the tanks that's the best in most categories, which is nigh on impossible since there are infinite categories. Especially since you're kinda mixing apples and oranges with the WWII tanks and modern tanks such as the Abrams... but thats just my 2 cents.

I voted T-90.
I've seen videos of its slick maneuvrability.
If an M1A2 or Leo2 tried to immitate the T-90 in the video, its crew would experience catastrophic injuries. To make things better it managed this without sacrificing armour protection. It can dish out anything a Leo2 and Merkava Mk4 can. Or more if you take in consideration it's equipped with two APS systems and new generation reactive armour that makes any rounds shatter on impact. Its munition can perforate M1A2, Leo 2 and Mk4 armour up front and its ATGM makes the T-90 an opponent even at 4 kilometers. A Leo2, M1A2 and Mk4 would have to close in because I doubt they can engage targets so far with as much precision. If the T-90 crew lazes the target properly, the hit probability of [SIZE=-1]9M119 missile is almost certain. It's also cheaper to fabricate because it uses much less steel than other MBT. Only 48 tons.
