yes... more pc problems

ok so i heard that "svchost.exe" is good and can be potentially bad. i have five of them running



please help

ok alright just checking, website told me that they could be trojans, spyware etc. thatnks anyway

i dont think so, I think they have somthing to do with networks? i could be wrong

svchost is the 'service host' process. Simply put, each type of service has it's own service host process. For example, one svchots will host all the services related to networks, another will host everything related to graphics or audio, another for everything related to peripheral devices, or the like. I don't know exactly what the varying hosts are for windows but that's the jist of it.


What you can do to check is run a search for 'svchost' on your computer. You may have to specifiy \windows\ as windows doesnt like to search for system-critical files on it's own. If you have them popping up in any place other than \windows\system32\, investigate it further on google or some tech-help websites. The only place it should be appear is in your system32 folder, or the servicepackfiles folder.
