Insurgency Mod ... EPIC THREAD OF DOOM

What I was always wondering, why make a HL2 mod, especially if it's centered around gameplay roughly comparable to Counterstrike.
I mean why not make the mod for CSS? Everyone who has HL2 has CSS, right? But NOT vice versa. So why not make the mod for CSS?
->larger potential player base = win
Or is there something I'm missing?

Source mods use Source SDK base. So Insurgency isn't a HL 2 mod anymore. All you need is some Valve game that uses source. And I don't think the gameplay is like in CS.

Well, basically Half-Life 2: Deathmatch will do.

Actually, since the latest updates every Valve Source-powered game should work as a modplatform.

I asked on the INS forums and they gave me this in response...
"You need to have Half-Life 2.

I bought the multiplayer pack from Wal-Mart thinking that would do as far as playing mods goes. So now I got 2 copies of DoD:S, two copies of CS:S..."

So either that dude just wasted a lot of money or I'm not going to play this mod when it comes out.

No official date yet, but I believe a release during the next 3 months is possible.
