Beefy Engine Sounds

Sorry if this has been mentioned before:

I really think the tank engine noises need to be seriously beefed-up! To me they sound too much like a humming/mild droning sound. The Panther/Tiger in particular sound alot like an automatic Range Rover to me, as does the T34 - with it's diesel engine and unclad steel tracks the T34 was one of the noisiest tanks ever to roll into battle!

Imo beefing-up the engine sounds and adding some clattering along with the squeaking would add bucketloads of realism to the tanks and atmosphere to the game. Some samples:

Turn your volume up and feel that Maybach!

The best example i could find of a T34 :( :

and just for fun a King Tiger:

I've been to some of the modern tanks too and I have to say they still "roar" too much :) It should have been worse with those diesel and Maybach monsters. Every tank had a different firing sound than others, especially noticable "barking" of Tigers were mentioned in the books I've read.

We also desperately need tank track creaks and squirks, as well as some heavy rattling sound when nearby a tank.

They have to sound as frightening as they were :)

Ya the current sounds are a bit of a disappointment:( but remember we are getting the new patch soon.:)

Don't get me wrong, i'm not whining. Xancerman has done an outstanding job on the sound fx overall - it was because of RO that an X-Fi soundcard went from being an expensive, non-essential luxury to a necessity for me;)

I just think this is the only sound area that needs fixing - to hear a Maybach in all it's thunderous, growling and screaming glory on my lovely soundcard would just about perfect the game as far as the cacophony of war is concerned!

*as for the patch - i too am very happy about it. Great work TW, thank you!*

I did hear that russian tanks were louder than german tanks...they could be heared in the distance whyle german tanks were only heared if pretty near (im talking on tank ranges). Maybe its that russian tanks were aluminium.

I think it was something like this: You could hear the PzIII or so from about 200 meters while you could hear the T34s from about 600 meters already.

What I really want to hear is this distinctive sound for the Tiger, shown in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3565ClKI1P0&mode=related&search=

Especially the *clank clank clank* :D
