I'd like to get either one or the other, but I'm on a budget, so which system do you think would offer better performance / value ? I need other people's input as to how to spend my hard earned cash. I don't know as much about this technoloy as most of you guys do.
Optrion 1:
If I trade in my PS2 and all the old games I don't play anymore, I can get $300 CDN off of the price of an Xbox360 ($575 CDN after taxes). The next-gen platforms give better graphics with HDTV's, which I don't own. I've only got a standard definition CRT TV, so I could buy this...

It may be small, and not the highest quality of all HDTV's but its a trustworthy brand name I think and its on sale for only $350 CDN (normally $400)
That rig comes out to a total of only a little under $700 after the PS2 and games are traded in.
Option 2:
A new PC, and remember, I'm on a budget. No $1,000 AMD FX processor for me. Instead, a PC with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ dual core CPU, 2 Gigs of Buffalo DDR2 667 SDRAM, a suitable motherboard with onboard sound at around $120, an ATI Radeon X1900XT with 512mb memory, and all the other stuff, like case, powersupply, optical drive, HDD etc etc. I don't need a keyboard, mouse, speakers, monitor, Windows XP Pro and so on as I allready have all of that stuff.
After taxes, all that stuff could cost me $1,400 . Of course I'd wait untill Windows Vista and DX10 videocards come out, then the prices on some of this stuff would go down a bit. But still, It would cost me TWICE AS MUCH! I love the PC and I'd prefer gaming with a keyboard and a mouse over a gamepad anyday. And I love stuff like RO that won't likely ever come to the consoles.
Is it really worth it. Would the PC I listed above perform alot better than an X-box 360 with the TV I listed? Is it worth the extra money? Or should I save my self some cash and just get a console?
Your advice will be greatly appreciated.
