Post your clips for inspiration here!

German where allways outnumered in all fronts (specially on easter front). And they hold the war for 2 years after Kursk...even doing a final bet in Ardennes winter 44/45. As germans was so busy in Russia the units defending the Atlantic wall were"volunteers" and a few SS. And without any air cover. They were lucky that germans didnt assume the Rommel tactic of kicking them from the beaches to the sea (Remember SPR Omaha massacre?...add some Tigers, Panthers and Hummels 150mm to the scenario...).

The defenses of course are MG42 HMGs and mortars...not massive assault squads and panzergrenader. These are not close range weapons...and dont think about the MG42 we are used to play with...to set a defense position they were mounted on a tripod (reducing recoil) and upgraded with a scope so they were accurate up to 800-1.000m (it could be cool if we see this kind of HMGs implemented in the game)...I have see mortars allready implement as map fix feature (Day of Defeat non source) and as regular weapon in War of Infamy (Ghost Recon Mod).

About the ranges of shooting....well..record kill ranges where reached in Russia where the tundra is almost a hairy desert with gentle slopes...in Normandy the Bocage are pieces of terrain separated by high hedges ideal for shoot&scoot...but not kilometric shooting.

I really dont believe that It where ever a green crew on a Tiger...in that SPR suxs...and whats more...the fake Tiger (t-34/85 maked-up) sux too.

I think I still remember Americans hidding behind sandbags from the 20mm AA...LOL

Anyway....SPR, BoB, Enemy at the gates etc look way more realistic than Lee Marvin ones (allthough he really was there as many other actors of his generation).

This is the thing...they could have never release a film like SPR in 1960 or so (Korea, Vietnam...etc) and the farther we go from WWII the better the films will be...lets see what Mister Clint Eastwood is bringing in the poket with the dual "Flag of our fathers" and "Letters from Iwo Jima"...if they are the half good as "Million Dollar Baby was" I will exit the movie crying out of control.

This is fair...the 2 versions...

I recently went to the Blockbuster and picked "American Soliers"(Based on a true story of current Iraq crisis)....DONT DO IT! ITS NOT WORTH A CENT!....So it looks like there is the need the time to pass by to see a good film about actual events...exceptions:

- United 99

- Platoon

- When we were soldiers

- Blackhawk Down

- Tears of the Sun

So in my oppinion we see "better films" about war because of 2 reasons....we can see every day arab children killed by a Israel or USA missiles (they never of course never say who was the target...and why those brave terrorist hide in houses with women and children....) so as this didnt happend some 30/40 years ago they were more sensible to cruel images...since Vietnam this has changed.
In those days WWII was still round the corner 50 Mill ppl KILLED...thats X3 in injuried....do you remember the reactions of Tom Cruise in "Born the 4th of July" whyle they were shooting in the militar parade? Thats it...

So remember this is a game...and we WONT SEE THIS COME TRUE...

Enjoy;)

I dont exactly get what you say in all this, cause its hard to find clear points in what you like or dislike.. but it might be just me, as I am abit tired right now...

Anyway found a nice clip of a japaneese self defence squad training....
I hope it will inspire RO Devs to create elements that supports group movements, Ie give increased performance when moving in groups.

Defending the bridge against hords of germans w/ lack of manpower, muntions and equipment!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFOP0nlcRCg

*** Gives good feel of suppression effect (sound and human reaction), Impact puffs, and Movement under fire.
------------------------------------------
Band of Brothers:

Fire exchange at an open field. Surprised by enemy armour.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4KFTB8CL70

*** Gives a feel about a soldier morale and experience in battle (see how Blythe panics and recovers when the NCO is supporting him.
This could be done in RO by reducing suppression effect when close to the Squadleader or teammates.
*** Also notice how the reinforcements gives the men a morale boost, seemingly improving their momentum and accuracy.

S.P.R:

Well... Kozy... He seem so sympathetic and kind.. SHhh Sh Shhh... Its ok... sssh!

NOTHING should be taken from SPR.

The combat scenes are lowsy, unrealistic, and totally one sided.

Nothing at all. nothing, from SPR. No inspirations from SPR, no talk of SPR, no SPR.

I dont think your comments are educating, humble, polite or constructive :)
I've was by the impression that this community had such qualities...
but sometimes it seem opposite....

Idea pissers and brats go to bed and let daddy have a good time :)

My comments are not directed at you, just at SPR and any notion or suggestion that we should look to SPR and base anything off of anything from SPR.

SPR is a joke of a film. And a mockery of a WWII film.

Thats ok.. Im just fed up of comments that doesnt refer to what I was saying IE: This is a scene that shows effects of supression and how people may act under fire...

When u answer u dont say example: No I dont think so, cause this and that..
but instead u say: it all **** without reasoning.. thats why I got abit offended.

I have a lot of other clips showing the samethings to prove that some of the scenes actually represent realistic events from real life. Just have to dig them up.

In the mean time have fun with this... real combat in Rio:

Theese clips are not portraying the enemy side either... :)

If I compare theese scenes to how RO is played today, I would say RO is not feeling realistic.
A average player might say, ARRRGH theese guys are CAMPING!!!
:D

Some of the guys said about BOB, "the guys done even bother for cover!!!"
I say if you take a look at theese guys, it Looks like they are moving in the open, but they know where the enemy is
and they know that it is something between them and the enemy.
Not to overly defend BOB and SPR, but just because 50 people say that a movie is ****, doesnt mean that everthing innit is...

That's just it. Pretty much all the 'Germans' in SPR run around like lemings while the Americans just shoot them up. Ever notice that? They're also incredibly surrender happy... basically the movie just makes the Germans look like an incompetent force of cowards, dumb ones too. Like when the germans run out of the halftrack just to get mowed down... and they just kept pouring out...

a travisty of the movie too.

and what do you mean enemy side...?

Hi.

The scene portrayed in Band of Brothers is fairly unrealistic. German "potato masher" grenades depended on concussive effect to kill and wound, meaning if you're on open ground and the grenade is close, there is little-to-no chance for you to survive, merely because blast effect doesn't have a habit of 'missing'.

edit: by the way, you don't know anything

If you knew anything, you would realize that that part is well documented in the BOOK. From the soldiers that it ACTUALLY happened too.

I know, because I have the book.

It was a dud nade of course, but it happened in the book.

What did you think of it? It's from an 11 part series called Shtrafbat, or Penal Battalion. Trying to get my hands on a subtitled version. Showed what a pretty much average Russian soldier looked like.

It looked great... I tried find it... but couldnt. DO you have any links?

Dont know if it were posted before...sry i f so.

Thats suppresion on urban firefight

Good clip :) I am not sure, but it seems like the US troops are facing minor enemy resistance?
It seems like they have MAJOR fire superiourity, and they do not fear much as the enemy does not seem to fire back with the heavy stuff....

On the other hand I think this clip illustrates what it would feel like being in a well equipped squad supported by armour....

HEre is a clip of a squad feeling quite different :D:

THIS is what I call suppression :D
