In memory of Russian Flight 612

A Russian commercial jet carrying 170 people, many of them children, crashed in eastern Ukraine today. Thirty nine children were on board; six of the children were under two. There were no survivors.

Any word on the cause?

They are looking into it, but they suspect poor maitenence, safety violations, etc., which are the same problems that have been the cause for most of the Russian air crashes. The pilot sent out a distress before making an emergency landing saying that there was a fire in the cabin and heavy turbulence.

Mass death unfortunately seems to be common in Russia considering WW2, Stalin, and the Theatre and School terrorist events of 2002 and 2004 were something like 100 some and 400 some people died. I'm sure there are many more examples, but Russia's WW2 casualties would be the most obvious.

i think bad maintenance is the cause. it travelled more than 8,000 kilometers before last check. and it also said that it wasn't going to be checked anytime soon too. may God bless the souls of the victims and help their family and friends go through this event.

The most recent reports are indicating really lousy wheather may have been an instigating cause. My wife and I have held the departed in our prayers. To our Russian and Ukranian friends our thoughts and prayers are with you.
