Nowadays i know that almost all armoured vehicles (tanks, armoured personnel carriers etc.) carry on their turrets small tubes, usually bunched up in threes, to launch smoke in front of them so other tanks, anti tank soldiers etc. cant see them if they need to pull out if damaged, or the crew need to bail out etc u get the point. I was wondering if these smoke grenades/launchers were present on the armoured vehicles during ww2, and if so they could be fitted to give an even more tactical element to the gameplay.

Almost all German tanks had them after 1943... Pz 3, 4, 5, 6, 6-2, StuGs, etc.

They were called Nahverteidigungswaffe (Close Defense Weapon). Only German tanks had these weapons.

They could fire smoke and high explosive shells(anti-infantry).

Many tanks had smoke shells that would be fired from the main gun(like AP, HE, etc).
