stg 44, what r.o. maps have those?

Hehehe I just found out that I could shoot single shots with the MG by clicking secondary fire ;)
The stgw44 is really an awsome assault rifle, but has a horrendous kick when shooting from the hip. But I've taken out 3-5 people with a single magazine while fighting in the trenches of Lyveskrovy (or however that is spelled ;))

The MG34 had a special trigger so if you pulled i think the top part of it it did single shots, while the lower part allowed sustained fire. please correct me if im wrong:D

Does the STG have less stopping power than the normal rifle when single shots are fired? This seems to be my experience; where I need just one hit with my bolt, that doesn't seem sufficient with a single shot from the STG. Sometimes I don't want to give away my position so I prefer to fire single shots, even at shorter/medium range, but they don't seem to kill instantly.

I think that even in RO some weapons had to be "nerfed" in relation to their real power. I believe that the stgw44 was way ahead of its time, and if RO would reflect the total predominance of the stgw44 it would throw every other weapon off balance. This thing had pinpoint accuracy on 200-300 Meters in single shot, and same caliber (7.2mm) as the standard bold-action rifles anno domini. Allied automatic rifles were no match at all for the stgw44.
But please feel free to correct me if I am wrong on this :)

If I remember correctly the StG used the same kind of rounds (8mm mauser) as the K98 but to help control the recoil the round was shortened so you would not have the same kind of power behind the shot.

In a similar way the FG42 was set to use standard mauser ammunition which made it an utter pain to fire as an automatic weapon.

I've just run a quick search on wikipedia so here are the articles for the k98, FG42 and the StG44 if you want more info.

The stg44 definitely has single shot stopping power, but I agree it does seem to be a bit less effective than a standard bolt. Then again, there are times that a bolt wont kill in one hit either.

Maybe I need to pratice more to get headshots with the STG, but now it seems too difficult for me to keep using the STG. My preferred combination of arms would now be a Kar98 for ranged shots and a pistol for close combat. I'm too clumsy to melee and always end up stabbed or shot  , but shoot quite well with a pistol... now I have to try to pick up a pistol of someone that just got killed as it isn't issued to the rifleman.
