I asked about this before but didn't really get any answer, but why in the world does it take two stabs or more to kill a guy with the bayo? An 8 or 10 inch blade would immobilize or kill the one who recieved it. I doubt they would be in any condition to turn and shoot when they are stuck like a pig.
You don't stab'em right. I gut people all the time with a single strike.
Anyway let me retort my logic (It's not an arguement just trying to get you to see it my way to those who made comments)
First of all as far as martial arts goes, you'd need more grappling to make it worthwhile at all for hand to hand, wrestling a gun away, some sort of system for holds and whatnot, fairly hard to add to a first person game. I am aware the russian martial art Sambo WAS around at the time (Look it up, one of the most savage martial arts if there ever was one), but like others said not most were trained in it or in a condition to use it. I would love to see some sort of grappling system if it could be implemented though. But still not SO relavent.
To those who said they ran around and made people kill each other inadvertantly, I'm pretty sure that doesn't keep up with the realism thing so much. I'm not sure how close the stone throwing thing is (I know it happened in the revolutionary war but that was like, not even related) but I'm sure it's more plausable I'd sooner believe a guy throw a rock at me then ran around going "Whoop whoop whoop" and accidentally made me off my squad.
To those who said you'd be killed fast and that you can just sneak away or run away, that's half my point. I don't think it'd be overpowered, it would just occasionally give you that edge you need to run the hell away, a few seconds is a lot in a game like RO. Generally you are pinned down anyway if you manage to survive long enoughto get to safety. When they rush you with a bayo, hitting that first guy in the face and blurring his vision s you can get away could make that occasional "Oh man did you just see that? *whew* moment."
To the last resort comment, now you get it, it's a last resort, hence why you would only get it after you have no gun, no ammo, and no grenades. It could be the one thing that lets you live long enough to get the weapon you need or to get to the safety you so badly want. Also when in human history has a rock, not been available? I don't think I ever remember an elderly person going "Yep, I remember the great stone shortage of '22, gather round children, let me tell you about the days when we had to throw leaves at each other because dirt clumps nearly went extinct." >: P
