If the position is unreachable by the defending team and the tactic can't be prevented, it seems to me like there is a design flaw in the map. AFAIK none of the official maps have undefendable or unreachable areas like you mentioned.

On a map like Odessa it just sounds like a strategic tactic. If a team has enough of their schiltz together to devise that kind of plan, that sounds like exactly what this game is about! Like playing chess -- look at the whole board and play several moves ahead.

Skirting as you put it imo is a valid tactic, As said "If they let them get there in the first place then they deserve to loose the cap".

Both teams know where the caps are & a good player should be aware of what is happening where he is currently & on the whole map in relation to the objectives. Thus take apropriate actions to advance their teams goals to the point of completion.

These people who skirt are forward planning a stradegy in relation to the whole game, they are also running the greater risk in that they do not have any backup when the cap becomes active or the opposition enters the cap.

Flanking the map to take out the opposition to prevent them reaching their objectives is a tactic I have employed on a number of occasions to allow my team the time to take an objective & get into a defensive position to hold it.

Especially usefull on maps like Orel where it takes time to get to cap zones so if you are there first it means you get the cap.

Flanking is a totaly INVALID tactic!

It is so annoying when the enemy dont run in front of your MG.
Flanking tactics have never been a part of real warfare.
In fact the russians where famous for never useing partisan tactics like that.
Red Ochestra should be played like "Castle Wolvenstein Single Player" - You only take ONE route to victory.
Other invalid tactics include:
Hideing behind things
Shooting players who can't see you
going prone
avoiding artillary barrages
useing melee weapons

;)
