Beta goes live and TWI needs testers

News #1: new file system released

Two parts to today's news... the first is about the Steam file system. You should already be finding that Steam has updated itself and, when it does, it will also take a little while to permanently unpack the RO files into a new folder for you. This means that the game and maps should load faster for all players from here on. Those of us who ran the beta of the file system can simply remove the beta parameters from the Steam shortcut and go back to the "normal" Steam!

When unpacked, RO will now reside in a new location on your hard drive:

"\SteamApps\common\red orchestra"

Those using the SDK will need to note this - but please ensure you back up ALL your work in the SDK before restarting it, just to be on the safe side!

There is more news on this file system update over at Steampowered - CLICK HERE.

News #2: Tripwire needs more testers!

Right now, we badly need more testers, so that we can get full, 32-man teams on the test server when required. If you are interested - and have the time, the will and the patience to be a tester - please jump to this forum thread - CLICK HERE.

For those of you in the beta of this system, please delete your .ncf files to get steam to check your computer and remove the old data that should not be there anymore.

To all SDK users, you will have to delete the SDK gcf on your own. It is not being deleted with the rest. Also, you might have to reinstall the SDK (if you were not a part of the beta)

To all those running into problems with the new file system, please read the stickies in the support forum.

Could you add which .ncf files these are and where one can find them, thanks. :)

EDIT: I suppose you mean redorchestraclient.ncf and redorchestracommon.ncf in the C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps directory?

Full 32 man teams? That made me excited for a moment because technically If you wanted a decent game of RO you'd have 2 teams, and 2 teams of 32 would equal 64 players!
Pretty sure they ment 32-man teams of testers. A team that would test whole map at once with full load. So no, I doubt you will see 64-man servers any time soon, unless some radical changes take place
