I just came across news of this and I have a couple of questions. Is this strictly online play, similar to Battlefield 2. Where there is really no content for offline play. The other question is about the cost. I found the page with the download link, is there a cost per month to play, or is it just a one time purchase?

It is similar to battlefield 2 where the multiplayer maps can be played offline with bots. The cost is 24.99 USD on steam or 29.99 USD in a retail store in north america. I'm not sure on exact pricing elsewhere and there is no monthly fee.

If you like the realism of SH3 for example there is a very good chance you will be the right audience for ostfront.
If you have ever played or considered Swat4, Operation Flashpoint, WWII Online, Raven Shield/Rainbow 6 then you iwll definietly be able to get a lot of fun out of Red Orchestra: Ostfront.
Online Squad Based Tactial Realism is where it's at, once you have participated in a full scale ocmbined arms assault with tanks, armoured cars and infantry all working together then you iwll be hooked.

I have played all of those and miss the groups I use to run around with. BF2 just doesn't do it for me. I will be signing up for axis, are there plans if this is successful that a Pacific front might be done? Fighting in the jungle will remind me of Vietcong.
