Question(s) about M44

He's talking about the mosin-nagant model '44 which is basically a cut down 91/30 with a hinged crucifix bayonet permanantly attached. In practice most troops kept their spike bayonets atatched to their 91/30s as they didn't unbalance the gun like a standard bayonet can, but the gun was simply that bit too long to be entirely practical in modern warfare, hence creating the m44 version.

Supposedly the machinery was moved to Poland, where the Poles started manufacturing the M44 in the early 50's, then maybe to Hungary or Romania.
