No way ... i hate weapons ... it s just the most stupid phallic substitute ;)
Well, for some people that's true, like for the guy that will spend $1500 on a new "plastic" rifle, and then spend another $5000 upgrading it with toys like laser sights, tactical lights, triple scope mounts, and who knows what else - just so he can look cool at the range. This is the same guy who tricks out his car with $20,000 in sound system, rims, and other crap like he's got something to prove.

But for others... let's just say a dirty, old, cosmoline-encrusted $59.99 Mosin Nagant isn't exactly a "phallic substitute" (though it fits the "long and hard" part...). :p I enjoy reading about history, but these guns actually helped shape it, for better or for worse. My Mosin Nagant 1944 was made in 1945 - maybe it was there when the Reichstag fell. My 91/30 was made in 1936 - it may have served in the hands of a brave Soviet strelok trying to hold back Barbarossa, or maybe in the hands of an NKVD lackey who took a role in the Soviet purges or farm collectivazation of the 1930's, or in the hands of a rifleman fighting his way into Germany in 1944. Who knows?

History is shaped by men, but weapons and pens are the tools that do the sculpting.

This IS why France was steamrolled by the Germans... twice, and us country bumkin Yankee's from the back-woods of anytown USA had to bail them out.. again, twice. Thanks for helping us out in our American Revolution though... that was first-rate. :D
We won the first world war .... but after the loss of 2 millions men between 1914-1918 , frenchs didn t want to see that again .... thats why they elected a socialist governement (not communist...) who a this time still believe in the "good" part of humanity .... it was a mistake it s true .... but i consider that you cant blame a country who believed in peace , diplomacy and accepting differences between differents country instead of making war and mass murder
I wishful thanx yankees for kicking germans out of france ... but i also thanx general de gaulles who kicks yankees ass to get out of france right after the war :D

Napoleon is one of My personal Hero's. :D Besides being of well Ide say 50% Irish decent I get a kick outa England getting their asses handed too them now and again...even though I am 'bout a quarter English + French+ Portugese blood. Americans are Mutts,...but Mutts tend to be the smartest, well-mannered, loyal dogs on Earth.:D Let the Past be 'in' the Past. :)

I believe most M44s saw the Battle of Berlin.

I can't say I've bought one because of RO....yet. RO did help renew my interest in an SVT40 though. I had planned to get one before playing RO, it just moved it up a bit on my list and I started pricing them again. I just happened to ask at the right place and stumbled into a nice vet bring back.

If/when I buy a TT-33, then I can say I bought a gun because of RO.

Yo, that dealer you went to has really great deals and looks like he has nice guns. Is he as reputable as he seems?

Wich dealer are your referring to? Most of my purchases are through online venders such as SOG and Aimsurplus or through online bids. The SVT40 was bought from a relative of the original owner. I've never once had a problem with an online dealer. The one time SOG sent me a #5 that was in less than advertised conditon they replaced it immidiately with no hassles.

I voted "No interest".
Been in the army for 4 years and I think guns are overrated. Lost interest after the 3rd time on the firing range.
Every time I got my hands on a "new" weapon (as in, not fired before) it was interesting though. Specially the FN MAG (m240 for the Yanks) was nice.

You've obviously never gone hunting, you start to see guns in a different light after your first days hunting.

Strangly enough, shortly after I got involved with RO, one of my friends who is somewhat of a gun nut mentioned he had 2 Mosin Nagants and asked if I wanted to go out shooting with him. I of course said yes. On the way back he asked if I wanted on in exchange for some computer work. I once again said yes :)
