To HDR or not to HDR

All it does is blurs up your screen so that you can't notice point targets at long ranges. It is horrible, I can't even understand why they insist on having that function. It worsens the graphics and drains system resources, so what's the point really, unless you want to simulate having dropped your glasses in the heat of a battle.

Have it on @ 1280*1024 only losing 1-2 FPS

I wouldn't dream of turning it off, game looks so sterile with it turned off

since it turned up gamma it looks much better with hdr on,i didnt like it before but now i do.

So, from what I surmise is that at a resolution of 1650x1080 HDR should look good. Sweet. I will have to try it out when I get ROOST reinstalled on my new rig.

Wow, I just turned on AA and AF and man what a difference everything looks crisp now. though FPS is a bit lower.

I dont have it on, for a lot of the same reasons posted. I have been told by people that use huge resolutions that it loks great. I will stay with my aa and af.

I run 1920x1200 and HAVE to have it off... it looks more like Myopia than anything...

Same as Perk, here. My laptop screen is only 17 inches, but runs at 1920x1200 resolution. If HDR bloom were to look good anywhere, it would be on that screen. But it doesn't look good at all.

No matter what I try HDR just doesn't work right. The image I get looks like I am a soldier wearing glasses that weren't prescribed to him.

It would be extremely helpful if people could post an in game screen shot of HDR on and HDR off.
That way many others could just see the differences you are trying to point out.

I personally dont see a huge difference, but with bloom ON the atmosphere of the actual map does seem more realistic. However with lower resolutions I think it makes it look worse.

I don't really notice the HDR. Maybe I'll fool around with it and see what it is like with it off.

you can see the HDR effect in the sky mainly (obviously) and also some of the ambient lighting.

If my bloom looked like that then HELLS YES I'd have it on.

I believe the problem lies in Pixel Shader 2 cards... basically lower than the nVidia 7000 series and the ATi x1000 series cards. Even my x850 only has Pixel Shader 2 and can't render TRUE HDR, it can only do bloom, which means that it blurs instead of actually enhancing the picture.
