I know how to say "Umlaut". I used the letters to make it easier to understand. Not everyone knows the word "Umlaut" here in this forum, as you have to agree.

I have no problems with people who don't have a good grip on English because it isn't their first language. I DO have a problem with foreigners who try to insult my lack of usage of a foreign letter modification, and yet they look like a six-year-old when they try to type in English.

If you knew the first thing about the Eastern Front, you'd know that the Soviets produced enough weapons to arm every single one of their soldiers, and then some. The only exceptions were early on in the war, or in the most desperate of battles, such as Stalingrad. And the reason why the fighters in, say, Stalingrad weren't supplied well was because all those weapons were going to the divisions preparing to launch the counteroffensive from the other side of the Volga.

This thread is pointless, it should just be locked. Basically all that it has turned into is a free-for-all bashing of each other which is completely immature and pointless to any further discussion in the game. How about option to have a spade to dig in. Give defending unit time to prepare and cammie fighting positions and attacker time to develop a coordinated attack plan synched with fires and tank support before jumping off for the attack. Then let the action start after the prep time runs out.

A spade as second melee weapon would be a good addition imo. It could have less range than the bayonet, but a higher "rate of fire" maybe.

I'd like to see the spade in game. It's realistic and presents no problems.

Every unit in game has the option to use a weapon for CQ purposes (pistol, riflebutt, bayonet). No german unit in game has a shovel (check the models, unless they have deep pockets, they dont).

For atmosphere and realism's sake, I'd rather see people melee with what they had in their hands at the time of encounter, rather than magically insta-switch to a spade and commence "whacking". No one runs into a gunfight with a shovel. CQ battles were something that should be avoided if at all possible, not encouraged with unnecessary melee weapons.

LMAO @ this^^ - I don't know why but for some reason I get a picture of DoD 3.1 when you'd run out of ammo and select your spade and run at the enemy wildly hitting air.

But as for spades, I don't see a problem with it being there, can't imagine it being used very much though, except for suicide runs ofc.

leave the spade to DoD.. DoD Classic is great.. source not so much... but RO is hardcore simulation of warfare.. leave it as is as far as Melee goes (altho it could use a tune up) but no spade's or brass knuckles

I think the spade would be usefull for the mg class but thats about it...yes people would use the weapon in their hands to fight but swinging around a 26lbs gun isnt very effective...and sometimes you might not have pistol ammo or it might have been droppes/shot out of the hand...but i could only realistically seeing for mg
