Maneater: Truth Quest - Coming This Summer!

Starring the titular and evolved bull shark protagonist – and Chris Parnell (Saturday Night Live, Rick and Morty, Archer), reprising his role as investigative journalist Trip Westhaven, Maneater: Truth Quest will take players down the rabbit hole of dark secrets and conspiracies surrounding Port Clovis and the Naval Wildlife Organization (NWO). The original stories of animals growing bone like armor, emitting flesh-eating toxins, or using electricity as a weapon were simply just old fisherman's tales. That is until conspiracy theorists everywhere pointed to the original Maneater as solid proof of a Government coverup. Trip Westhaven, driven the brink of madness, fires up his ViewTube channel “Truth Quest”, to take his followers, the “Questers” into deep waters in an effort to uncover the dark secrets behind this whale of a tale.

“The team has been hard at work on Maneater: Truth Quest and we’re excited to announce the first details on the downloadable content that so many fans have been asking for.", said Sean McBride, Creative Director at Tripwire Interactive. "We’re aiming to give players more of what they loved from the original Maneater, with the ability to grow bigger, explore an entirely new region off the coast of Port Clovis, and evolve further tools of destruction. Inspired by Scaly Pete's father's tales of 'Gub'ment Experiments', we pick up where we left off and join Trip Westhaven and the shark's journey down the rabbit hole of conspiracy and military cover ups as you eat, explore and evolve through these uncharted waters."

With two new episodes and an entirely new region, the Maneater: Truth Quest DLC is packed with new evolutions, challenges, wildlife, and more! Players will once again take control of the apex predator of the sea to Eat, Explore and Evolve their way to the top of the food chain. A small taste of new features and content include:
  • New Evolution Set
    • Maximum level cap increased to 40
    • Five new organ evolutions with one additional organ slot unlocked at level 40
    • Maximum shark size increased
  • New Wildlife
    • New “Uber” Apex Predator
    • New evolved hunt creatures
    • New Military Forces for Bounty Hunter System
    • Military land forces will launch attacks from beaches and fortifications
    • Helicopters will hunt by air
    • Five new Bounty Bosses
    • New weapons and vehicles for military Bounty Hunters
  • New Objective Types
    • Failure to Communicate: Tail-whip objects to destroy the target objective
    • Time Trial: Swim through the rings before time runs out!

The Maneater: Truth Quest DLC will require the base game, Maneater, to play -- and will be available for $14.99 / €14.99 / £12.99 MSRP with an ESRB rating of M for Mature, PEGI 18 rating, and USK 16 rating.

I have some questions on this dlc after watching yesterday's Twitch Stream.

1)They mentioned before the dlc officially releases for sale we'll get a free demo. How soon might that come before the official release and will it work with the base game or is it a seperate demo from your maneater game?

2)Will there be even more dlc coming to Maneater in the future or is this all we get?

3)Will this dlc be coming to the Switch later?

4)Will all the locations on the map we've unlocked still be available when you play this new story?

5)Will there be a physical copy sold in stores of Truth Quest?

Ray tracing is not yet available for any platform and is still in development. Keep an eye on these waters for future updates on that!
Sorry for my dramatic-ness. Let the team know I appreciate their hard work they've put in and continue to! I'm extremely excited for my favorite Shark game ever made to stay alive rather than die like we've seen in the past with games similari-ish to it. Yoshioka, thanks for all your work responding to the community, you've done great!

1) Currently not aware of any plans for a free demo, and do not believe this was mentioned on the stream.
2) We'll evaluate how this first DLC is received and if their is an appetite for more, we'll definitely look at what we can give players to sink their teeth into
3) We plan for DLC to come to all supported platforms in the future
4) You will be able to travel back to all your favorite haunts in Port Clovis
5) Currently not aware of plans for a physical release of the DLC

They didn't call it a demo but said it would be free in the patch before we download the dlc. Thanks for answering. They said something like you get a free mission just to get a taste of one of the missions before you download the dlc.

Very excited for new content for Maneater but what's really important will be that it doesn't become buggy and cause mayhem like the release of the base game did. Hoping it's a smooth release.
Also wondering if the game starts where we left off. Like do we jump into the DLC as our lvl30 super sharks or start as a pup again?
Also when does Maneater hit steam? Just seems like a more reliable system than the Epic store.

The DLC picks up after the ending of the first season of Maneater.

It will be coming to Steam later this year, but we don't have a firm date to share just yet. However it is currently 40% off at EGS as part of their Spring sale right now!

I would like to query if there'll be any free-roam customization?
One thing that does my head in constantly is I can't enjoy doing what I want in free roam as you chew through 2-3 people and the hunters are on you it's so annoying because even if you kill all the ones that arrive first it's just waver after wave.
It should be some unlockable gameplay feature upon completion of the campaign to turn off the bounty hunters. This game falls heavily onto the free roam aspect as a selling point but it's so annoying it's always hindered. I've beaten all the bosses, I don't need wave after wave of bloody EMP boats. Let me murder in peace.

Agreed their needs to be an option in game settings to turn off hunters maybe a slider. Also I would like a photo mode option on PS4 and PS5.

OK, any DLC news is *good* news.

But it looks like the devs have been ignoring the single most common theme in all requests - we want the ability to play as other shark species, or at least, the ability to customize our shark's appearance.

This could be done with species specific templates(for example: an assortment of species specific tails, snouts, and bodies).

Even better, you could allow us to modify parts of the models in a continuous fashion, ala the Elder Scrolls games(Oblivion, Skyrim).

This need not interfere with organ evolutions or character advancement - it would merely be a cosmetic, but much welcomed, addition to the game.

It is hard to believe that in 2021 any serious development team would release an RPG(even a shark RPG) without the ability to customize your character's appearance.

This seems like a needless restriction which could be easily amended(with minimal effort) to satisfy a common request from your player base.

Let's see it done.

They haven't said we can't play as other sharks or the alligator yet but one of the images shows what looks like a Hammerhead shooting out lasers so that would suggest we're also getting

It most likely hints that we'll be able to become the Hammerhead but they also say there's a new 'Uber' Apex Predator so a powered up shark that can match ours might be that 'Uber' thing. In that same image however there is something pretty monstrous just beneath the waves which might be the new Apex meaning the Hammerhead is indeed us.

Still agree that different shark species would be neat to play as from a visual style.

Since this forum does not allow users to edit posts(wow!), I would like to add to my previous one.

The only thing more fun than playing as a shark, is playing as many different sharks!
You can edit your posts with the options right under your text.
Are you perhaps using a mobile version which may not have those options rather than desktop?
