Difficulty modes
FINS mode - normal mode of the game that lets you roam the sea that was design to with the difficulty mode curved towards fun .( Casual gamers )

JAWS mode - "special" mode that is designed to challenge gamers using their shark instinct to survive the much harsher environment. basically more things that can kill the maneater shark.
you will also loss exp points when u die. what make this mode special is there will be a Roaming Apex Predator in the waters the entire game. ( Hardcore gamers )

Water Roaming Apex Predator
yes there are shark hunters but seeing some footage about the (fights/battles) encounters you can basically over power them will a rigth strategy (making them sharkhunter cheat or a little bit immortal will also be bad for the game ), after the story ,finishing quest , boss fights and at endgame part might get boring . so this roaming apex predator partially solves the those problems game wise and "realistically" wise .
now the only one I can think that fits a water apex predator in this scenario is a killer whale which is arguably the only predator (excluding humans) that naturally hunts sharks with real proof and sightings, happenings on the past in "real life". even the great white sharks are trying to avoid this predator. killer whale has all the ability in real life to outsmart a shark and be feared by a shark.
Stats:
Speed - fast and agile swimmer ( equal or slightly faster than a full grown maneater shark.)
Size - some bigger than a shark, some are equal size of a great while shark
Intelligence - you can even teach it tricks so very intelligent .
Adaptability - lives in different parts of the world.
Diet - can even be fed by a human cause its very flexible. will even eat a shark .
Killer move - easily out maneuvers a shark and rams it to put the shark in a state called tonic immobility.

Roams the waters and does not stay in one place.
has a circular area around it like a radar that can be seen on the map that is considered the danger zone where if you enter it the killer whale will be hostile and you will be chase to death by it unless you manage to get out that danger zone by out maneuvering it using the natural and unnatural obstacles in the water. like tunnels and or dangerous objects like plastic entanglement to temporarily halt its movement for your shark to have a split second to get out of its radar. since you don't have the passive ability "Apex Predator" early on.. if the killer whale catch you a cinematic scene of your sharks death will be automatically triggered even if u have full hp.

like the maneater shark this killer whale is also special. its overall numerical game stats is equal or slightly higher than a "full grown and fully upgraded Maneater shark" .
so its almost impossible to kill until your shark reach its full potential. after reaching the highest lvl you can learn the passive skill called " Apex Predator " which will give you the guts/bravery and instinct to fight the sharks real life predator. a very rewarding endgame challenge to be able to fight your predator. and being chase by a predator and managing to out maneuver it to avoid a deadly encounter brings a rush of excitement in the game for fun rather than have a world of a barren sea that is not trilling to explore.

if you manage to kill the water roaming apex predator a new one will spawn on the random area for replayability and fun purposes.

For launch we are not planning difficulty modes. The games challenge will come from the area the player takes our player shark to at certain life stages, and of course the dangers they will find in those different areas.

While "lightly" gated to show players the path forward, players can choose to break out of that path and go anywhere at nearly every life stage.
