IS2 Rear-Facing MG

Was sneaking up on an IS2 with a 'faust thinking "np that MG doesn't operate"

Wtf? It shot me?

Can only bots do this? Because I can't see how that MG can be manned on the IS2?

How was the historical crew arrangement in the IS2? Did the commander man the rear gun or was it up to the loader or gunner? Or was there actually a separate crew member that would man it?

Are you sure you did not eat any strange wild mushrooms?

In an IS-2, either the commander or the loader would fire the weapon, but usually the loader. This was insurance against German tank hunters, even though by that time Russian heavy tank units almost always had some sort of infantry escort.

There is no way this is possible.

Either you:
A) Mistook the coax MG for the rear MG mesh.
B) Were approaching the tank and another tank shot you. He was either behind the one you were attacking or his tracers riccocheted off and looked like they were coming at you from the tank itself.
C) Were lagging badly, which made it look like the tank's turret was facing away, similar to how sometimes you're shot by a soldier whose weapon is at his side.

Believe me, if there was a rear-firing IS-2 MG, I'd be the first to use it to clean off the panzerfaust troops.

I've seen (against bots, so no lag) that sometimes a tank will shoot at you despite his turret being 90

I want the rear MG
If my wife can do it with the eyes at the back of her head I'm sure the TW devs can do it with much less effective (and less dangerous) MGs on tanks!

maybe make it that if you scroll all the way down with views to below the gun sight it goes to the rear MG?

That way it isn't a dedicated crewman for it.

There is a picture of a mg at the back of a IS2, at when your waiting for a map a image of a Is2 and infantry running across a railway line...(i think of bandarvo) That image has a mg as the back and the turret is aimed out front!
