Ha! I just noticed when you disturb the water with anything...gunfire, your footsteps...it'll move around. Nice little touch there! I don't think I've ever seen that in a game before!

I think that's just engine limitations. You should see the new Engine for half life feature HDR shading and lighting, it is incredible. The water refracts and reflects light, windows work in the same manner, even with stained class windows. It didn't work for my computer however.

UT2k3 and 2k4 have this... it's part of the physics engine

other games that have water that is disturbed by gunfire and/or objects moving through the water...

the only games i can think of right now are morrowind and chaser

FarCry had the heavenly, turquoise, see-through water, but the water in the Source engine is probably the best I've ever seen (if only Valve didn't completely overdo the HDR)

This is the first time I've seen the water actually move around when you move through it. Not just splash up...

I noticed trees dropping leaves and they stick to ground..heh. Nice little touches.

The fact is that water surface starts moving if it is touched by an object, may it be a bullet, foot or body.

In most other games (like Source engine-powered games) the water already moves and can't be affected by an object hitting the water surface.

I think in the future, RO can look something VERY much like lost coast (probably even better). Usually things released later in the generation of games look better.

Outcast from '99 had full moving, physics water and it still has the best looking water to date. It used(s) voxels, though.

First time I saw the water physichs I thought it looked really good. Well, a bit like jello but anyways it reacts on what happens and dosen't only do a swirl or something right beneth players wading through it or whatever.

In Unreal Engine 3.0 the water will be handled as fluid by NovodeX.

NovodeX will create meta-ball in the fluid, and the space will be considered as fluids aswell.
Thus you have physiqued water.

Imagine blood realistically streaming out of your body when your leg gets shot off!

Or soldiers trying to get to a driving tank in waist-levelled water, but because of the waves the tank transmits into the water you can't reach the tank!

it was added ina ut2k4 patch
and yeah it's mroe liek yellow
and wtf is those source screenshtos for? they don't do that. Shooting water makes a splash.. uh that's been around since 1990?
he's tlakign aoubt how the polygons get pushed down.

Also in UE2.5 they can make the terrain deform in real time.. lieka grenade explosion push it down some.

This was in a version of the ro mod.. dunno if it's in retail.

Man, in that map where you have Russians at top of hill in a church courtyard & the Germans have to climb up the mountain....the water behind the ruined tower is SO SWEET. It is all calm & then when you walk through it waves are sent out until eventually the whole pond is moving around.
