on russian side i see a medal, maybee the "HERO of soviet union"?
and on german side? where is the iron cross 1 or 2? "nahkampfspange" or the "ritterkreuz" (dont know the english words) "ritterkreuz mit schwertern, eichenlaub"? i mean, hey, its a "HERO"?!?
dont want to be a nazi, but if he is a hero, why no medals?
and, if this of the russian soldier isnt a medal, why he have none? or greater, or more?
HERO!!!!!

HERO!!!!!

It's the deluxe edition badge. Not sure if it's present also when you reach hero with normal edition. :)

I unfortunately only know the difference for the German characters.

For the squad leader, the default seems to be Unteroffizier.
However the NCO tresse seems to be missing from the uniform.

German Hero SL's are promoted to Feldwebel, there is a correct pair of shoulder boards, but the NCO tresse is still missing from the collar.
(Also there is no EK II ribbon on the tunic, but there is an EK I  )

The default German commander is an Infanterie Leutnant.

German hero commander has a pair of Oberleutnant shoulder boards in pink piping (Panzer units )
Initially I thought I saw yellow piping, indicating a cavalry unit.
I have no idea which unit the '8' represents...
Was there an 8. Panzer-division or 8. Panzer-regiment in Stalingrad?

Hopefully there is something for the Russian side as well, that somebody more knowledgeable may post.
