Hey,
So for art class I made this picture. It's in colored charcoal, on paper. It took me about 1 week, and made me a week behind in art class to do it.

Wow, very nice you did this in charcoal. I personally find charcoal hard to use, I do a little drawing myself. You made the sky dark blue which draws you to the top of the picture that makes you focus on the soldier. He's very nicely done, the shadows make him lean forwards corresponding to his posture. I could have made his face more detailed, but without it he looks a bit anonymous, maybe that's what you wanted? Very nice detailed for charcoal, your skills far exceeds me haha. Good work Branden!

My teacher gave me more marks for showing the serious side of the character, and showing the "enemy", because it's less shown in western art.

Yep that's what I took it from. I went through like, 10 pictures while making it because the references kept getting wrecked

Your charcoal skills are quite impressive, I've always found it really hard to work with, and it gets absolutely EVERYWHERE.
