Level Design New to map making questions

I want to make a map based on the rescue of Theodore eicke by the Totenkompf divsion. (eicke was shot down in his recon plane at the start of 3rd battel of kharkov.)

I think this would be pretty cool.

my idea would go like this..

there would be 2 set pieces of play.
Germans start with a truck that moves along a road at a set pace controlled by the AI heading towards the plane crash site to retrieve the body.... prehaps pass through 2 objectives like a 1 small town and then farm depot or something then finally reach the crash site in a open field or something similar.

Basically troops have to walk along with the truck protecting it...but the truck cant be destroyed it is just something you have to go with to protect it....i may make in destructable....but it is difficult how it would play out if it was.

Germans would initally spawn as one group heading along the road with the truck, and the Russians would spawn spread out along the length of the road and diffrent locations, like the town, farm house and crash site... as the distance will be fairly long it would not be beneficail for the russians to regroup and creat a defense....but they could it they wanted. This would allow for light defence against the germans who would have a easier time getting to the crash site.

Finally the Germans would fight there way too the crash site and retrieve the body.

The second set piece is once the germans reach the site and wait for a 1 minute the game restarts, but with the germans having to head back to there front line with the truck.

Once the Germans start leaving and reach say 50mtr - 100mtr from the crash site all the russians spawn at the crash site to begine pursuit of the germans.

This would create a rolling firefight battle where some troops would have to fight a rear guard action to let others follow the truck while the russians try and use force to just go straight past them and capture the truck.

i was also considering having a Tank on each side as well....so it is easier for the germans to reach the crash site firstly.....and then one on the russians at respawn to pursue as a reinforcement.

only difficultly for me would be that i would want the germans to not be able to run as fast as the russians after the retriaval. That way it gives the russians a feeling of pursuit and capture.... and the germans a overwhelming force....if they can all go the same speed it would have a constant space between the sided, so i am hoping i can make that modification for the map. but perhaps this could also be done by slowing the truck.


Finally for the germans to win they only need to survive and let the truck make it back to the front line.

The russians to win need to kill all the germans automatically stopping the truck at that point.

I think it would work best a single death game...or even limited respawn.

do you think this will be hard for a beginner to make? is it possiable?

If anyone else likes the idea i am happy for them to use it if they are skillfull.

I think the easiestr thing would be to limit the speed of the truck in order to keep the Germans slower on the retreat, as if they "run off" then the truck could potentially be destroyed.

I think if you look into Kismet tutorials now for UDK (the SDK is out in a few days) you should start to get an idea of how to do it, maybe a few trigger volumes.
