I feel bad for the 'people' I kill in HoS

I mean, I just had to listen to two Germans I slaughtered simultaneously choke to death on their own blood.

And then there are the ones who call out for their mothers.

Or scream and moan and writhe around for like 20 seconds.

Goddamn PTSD Simulator.

Sometimes it really hits home - the verisimilitude and atmosphere are astounding. Very few games are capable of making me feel empathy for the avatars I'm shooting, never mind a freaking multiplayer game. I've never played another FPS online and thought "Damn, sorry dude", after killing somebody.. only ever "HAHA SUCK IT ***** NOW TASTE MY SCROTUM WHILE I **** YOU TILL YOU LOVE ME ****** OORAH"

But I suppose I still do get like that if I manage to kill some dude that was able to kill me a bunch of times in a row.

But then I see his mangled corpse and realise he was just a man like me. RIP, Brother.

RO2 is an awesome game is alls I'm sayin'.

I agree. I love the vocal sound design in this game, especially when either your teammates or the enemy start to spout stuff and gives your/their location away.

Its the same for the death animations/physics. When you one shot kill someone and their body just collapses to the floor you have a great sense of power and it looks so damn realistic. Instead of doing the same old canned animations everyone their deaths breathe life into the game.

Pun intended.

I've yet to play as German but during a blazing 64 player battle in Railyard (sp?), I saw a dead nazi who was literally in a sitting position with the strangest look on his face and a pool of blood under his bum. I literally kept running up to make sure I wasn't seeing things and I didnt believe he was dead - of course I was killed in the meanwhile but couldn't help myself.

Totally agreed. A few times been killed while standing in awe (or horror) looking at the mutilated body of a comrade.

Not to mention the feeling, when you're proning in a hole and a grenade is thrown to you. The moment of 'oh shiiiiiii...' just a half a second before it goes off.

Totally cool!

I think we might have been recently playing on the same map because i took some screenshots of something similar to what your describing.
Spoiler!

I never feel sorry or bad for those I take out in the game.... it's them or I and if they didn't want to be lying there on the ground hugging their guts & crying, they shouldn't have been there in the first place, or should have dropped their weapon and surrendered.

Them lying there crying and screaming in pain is distracting though.... makes me want to shoot them again, but I'm too busy killing the rest of their buddies.

I feel the same way.
I also heard an enemy gurgling up blood on the floor after he was shot in the neck, it was actually kind of freaked me out and did make me feel a little bad.

Or killing a Russian and just heard him sit there starting to cry and saying "mama." This is especially striking because it makes you realize that some things like fear of death are universal regardless of culture and that war is equally horrific for all side involved on the front lines.

I also have had moments where a teammate and I would try to sprint from cover to cover, when we finally got to the objective and out of sight he got clipped by enemy fire at the very last second. He stood there with us just saying "They.... they got me..." and died on the spot while I watched.

This game captures emotions other FPS(or hell, almost any genre) have never delivered.

if a player in the game would surrender to me i would not shoot him, there is so much reality in the game more than just about the weapons.

it is the ONE game that truly captures the atmosphere of war.

war is a bad farce

when i quit playing i find myself cleaning my eyes since i am crying after a battle, no fps has or reality war game has ever made me cry, nevermind unknown to me.

a beatiful masterpiece.

maybe this game really needs a surrender-button, if ur out of ammo or feel ur gonna die anyway .. and getting -500 if u kill someone that did surrender.

The one game (mod) I have played that allows you to surrender in a fashion is the Resistance and Liberation mod for the Source engine. You can throw down all your weapons and scream through your mic "I SURRENDER".

Been in some pretty cool situations where i'm escorted behind enemy lines and the officers debate what to do with me.

So yes, surrendering would be a cool feature.
