installing ATI 11.9 beta drivers from guru

Well problem is not just with the ATI , got problems with my nvidias in sli and single as well so i think it's just down to game not being optimized enough :( .

Testing this drivers with my ati but not really expecting much

Hoping it's just due to being a debuf version of the game and once official release comes things will become smooth

Edit:

Actually now my 5870 runs better than my nvidias in sli , so going to stick with it for now .

Actually both companies have yet to release drivers concerning RO2, I wouldn't judge the game just yet.

I had a good performance before and the 11.9 beta drivers distinctly worsened my fps. Performance in RO2 and especially the different reactions to different drivers are weird.
But I'm lucky because the game runs really smoothly for me. I will stick to the 11.8 drivers.

My Hardware:

5770 HD
AMD 3,2 GHz Quadcore
4 GB Ram
Windows 7 64 bit

I Have Intel i5 CPU, AMD HD6970 2GB GPU, and 4GB ram (8GB, but have 32-bit Win7).

Can't really complain about the performance, all on max on 1920x1200 monitor, except shadows on High instead of Ultra (dosnt bring much difference if any), and usless GFX settings as motion blur & blum (because of bloom all games with it look cartoony & shinny - you DON'T want this in RO!) set to OFF!
Game runs smooth enough and looks beautiful (one of the best lightening engines I ever saw in a game). :)

Only problem is map Pavlov's House which likes to crash the game, but not slow down performance to much! Let's hope crashes will be fixed in full version - I can live with other bugs!

You have to clean your system from all traces.

So when you have removed your old driver you have to clean
with driversweeper in the safe mode.

Not anymore these days, simply install driver on top of the old one. Do not use driver sweeper if you are simply updating drivers!
Also, the 11.9 drivers seem to be a bit better with RO2 but it's most likely not a game specific tweak they implemented.

These days things are just the same as before, Driver Sweeper is there because it is needed. Btw, that links to an old version of it, here's the current ones: http://phyxion.net/item/driver-sweeper.html

Rolling back to 11.2 really helped my performance a lot.

I essentially use 3 things to make the game playable for me:

-In ROEngine config, change bInitializeShadersOnDemand=False to True
(Stops most crashing after loading, and load times are much much faster)

-Use 11.2 drivers for appropriate OS (I have XP 32, card is Asus 6850)
(Boosts framerate almost double in parts - 10fps now became 20, and average 30)

-Type "umbra culling" at start of round in console (without quotations)
(Boosts framerate an additional +5 for me, which means my 20fps min is now 25, and my 30fps average is now 35. Not perfect but quite playable.)

I've never had any issues installing drivers on top of an older version or changing between Nvidia / AMD cards by simply uninstalling and re-installing the correct drivers.

Users should upgrade their drivers on Windows Vista / 7 by installing the latest version without uninstalling / driversweeping the old version. If any issues arise that's then you should consider using driver sweeper.

Switching a card manufacturer without completely erasing old drivers is just careless, its very likely that problems arise from something like that and at worst those problems may not even be something you would clearly notice at least until its too late.

Its also generally wise to do a clean install of drivers sometimes and in some situations, it may do miracles.

I think it helped.. or it was because I changed Anti Alias from AMSAA to just MSAA. Anyway running the game with the same FPS I used to, but with 4x MSAA AA instead of 2x, 30+ stable fps, even on Pavlovz or Sparta with arty.
(Ultra textures, most other options on high)

Radeon 6800 HD something.
