[Tuning] Menu has no FPS cap.

Yeah, no. High framerate doesn't damage anything.
Uhm, yes it can. Sitting in the menus causes many powerful GPUs to heat up to max temps like running FurMark. This could cause instability in some people's PCs.

It's a very reasonable report and something that's actually important to see fixed before release. There are other reports of this behavior, including mine here: http://forums.tripwireinteractive.com/showthread.php?p=854065#post854065

They just need to cap the menus around 30fps, so that the GPU doesn't go crazy trying to max out where it isn't needed.

running the GPU at max load with inadequate cooling, yeah, that can cause issues however this is a system builders issue, and not the fault of high framerate.

If running your GPU maxed out is causing overheating issues then you need to get better cooling.

"my car makes too much horsepower at full throttle, so I never do that. It could cause damage"

It was designed to run full-bore.

Tarkin makes no sense and his attempted analogies demonstrate his failure of comprehension.
The problem is the game isn't capping framerate on the menus so GPU is running wild. It shouldn't be. End of discussion. They've probably already fixed this in the release build anyway, because it's readily apparent to anyone running a decent GPU.
