Does the 'I need ammo' message actually work?

I am mainly an MG user, and I have to spam the 'I need Ammo' message constantly. I want to know if that message can be heard by people around me. I know the writing appears above my head, but on realism servers (ones without overhead names) that doesn't work.

Can people nearby hear my calls for ammo?

Because right now, no one seems to know Im asking, I never get resupplied.

I believe it makes the text "MG need ammo" appear on the tactical view near where you're positioned. Which would explain why most people never see it. I see it sometimes but it's surrounded by all the other screen clutter so it comes across as gibberish.

I always see it, but I dunno how to give ammo. I also don't know how to use the big tripod machine guns.

Incidentally, it happens to be the same button you need to press. Namely Ctrl.

Just make sure you have "press Ctrl to resupply" or the picture of the MG in the center when you press, otherwise you'll just take cover like an idiot.

Not knowing how to resupply isn't really an excuse, you get an on-screen message telling you how to do it.

Why would I be trying to make an excuse? If I legitimately didn't want to resupply my allies I wouldn't even post in this thread about it.

I've been fighting right next to an MG before, where he would yell every once in a while "I need ammo!" but when pressing t it wouldn't show his request and walking next to him didn't give me the option. In fact I just walked right through him. Silly RO.

Whenever I see an MG in a fighting position I try to toss him an extra belt. It only takes a moment and, unless I'm mistaken, it doesn't effect your ammo count.

It is the first thing I do after I respawn: looking around to see if there is a mate with a MG to supply him.
I even run after them to do it and only after that I go my way into battle.

You can also resupply an MG a second time after going to an ammo cache, for the +5 honor and a teammate who can kill more Russians why the hell not.

Was he prone?
I think few times I have tryed to give ammo to machinegunner who was prone and I would not get the option.

Someone who has time could test that bug? (I'm going to bed...)

I see the message, but it often disappears before I can get there, and it doesn't reappear so i have no idea where the gunner is.

I see it as well but usually don't have any idea where the gunner is. I usually remember to give them ammo when I actually see them.

I alwasy give if I see the message I'm Im near them...sometimes I chase after them...tis team points after all.

It's only for MG users. You only get the option to resupply MGs and no one else. I wish that AT rifles could also be resupplied. Just AT rifle bullets, not the AT nades.

The first time I tried to resupply an mg I hit the good old G key and blew us both to pieces...hehe oops.

But I'm having trouble resupplying mgs as well, it just doesn't seem to take. I spam my use key and nothing happens, the said Mg'er walks off in disgust still screaming for more ammo. Its a little embarrassing.
