PBBans supports Red Orchestra 2

You have the choice on what anti-cheat you wish to use as a server administrator. If you want to play Battlefield on ranked servers you're forced to use PunkBuster. If there is a problem with PB (BC2 high CPU bug for example) you can't disable it. Nothing is perfect and that includes VAC and PunkBuster.

PBBans is not required nor forced upon any server. It's completely up to the server administrator if a server uses our service. We see between 5,000 - 25,000 players online at any given time per day. If PB or even PBBans was so problematic you would think there would be many more people posting about their bad experience.

While there are people who dislike PB / PBBans and post about it, there are also many others who play on PB enabled servers that stream to PBBans everyday that don't post. I know this is the first Tripwire game to use PunkBuster but I ask that you give PB and PBBans a chance before drawing conclusions.

thats not cool .. you know it
we all know how you feel about us COD kiddies and relaxed realisim here at this forum to put punkbuster in with that is bull
if "RR is niether here nor there" then why bring it up ?

im editing this cause its long

then you should be happy in a VAC server
also aim bots are getting really hard to spot .. and getting very complex in design .. with percentage of misses ect .
good luck and have fun

i understand where your coming from. i dont like it either but it is bad out there ...
just imagine if RO1 had been ruined by cheaters ( like alot of games)
to the point u either get the hack or stop playing the game

Like I said, it sounds like you're trying to sell this product. You're making it sound like iF we don't have your program running that we will be bombarded by hackers. You have nothing to back that up, nor do you know how many cheats go undetected by PB.

Whats it gonna cost to run your service, live streaming, For a 64 man RO2 server?

SuperTaz,

Could you please change that when the game starts both services A&B starts at the same time?

Not trying to offend anyone. If i do, apologies :). I feel always that PBB is spying on me when i am not playing games, yet still one service runs in the background all times with connection to the internet. Looks like a backdoor to be honest. Or make a civilized solution please.

I have been experiencing PBB since the start, and with all respect, i stil dont like your piece of software.

Thanks,

Regards.

we are PBBans. Even Balance develops PunkBuster

it is not "our" software

So you guys provide a service?

Is there a fee for server managers to use this service on their servers?

To be a ranked server on RO2 do they need to have punkbuster or pbans on their servers??

TWI these are questions that deserve to be answered.

To answer a few questions.

1) PunkBuster is created and maintained by Even Balance. Users and server admins never have to pay for it. Tripwire pays for this service.

2) VAC is created and maintained by Valve. There is no charge to users or server admins, or Tripwire. It is provided free of charge as part of the steamworks package.

3) PBBans is a group that taps into functionality inside of PunkBuster to provide among other things a streaming ban list for server admins. It is also free for users and admins.

The only thing the users and admins have to do is find the anticheat environment they feel works best for them.

PBBans is excellent because it streams anyone caught cheating and why to the PBBans servers. There is a master list showing who is banned and why. You can always go check and see who, when and why at PBBans.

Excellent choice for Tripwire to have PB and VAC. To many kiddies think its fun to use cheats or programs. For competition PB and Vac will be a welcome addition.

So, Yoshiro.. I have a question for you.

In order for a server to be ranked or allow players therein to complete 'achievements' will the server need to have PunkBuster running? If an admin chooses not to run PunkBuster, can the players there still gain achievements, stat tracking, leveling etc?

Licensee understands that PunkBuster software inspects and reports information about the computer on which it is installed to other connected computers and Licensee agrees to allow PunkBuster software to inspect and report such information about the computer on which Licensee installs PunkBuster software. Licensee understands and agrees that the information that may be inspected and reported by PunkBuster software includes, but is not limited to, Licensee's Internet Protocol Address, devices and any files residing on the hard-drive and in the memory of the computer on which PunkBuster software is installed. Licensee acknowledges and agrees that if Licensee does not want Licensor to collect and process such information, Licensee should not use the PunkBuster software.

This is too invasive for me. I don't want to open a backdoor into my computer to two different groups of people who I don't know, who are constantly monitoring, recording, storing and doing god knows what with my private information.. just cause there's a few cheaters out there. It's overkill in my opinion, and I would be very upset if I just paid 40 bucks for a product I wont fully be able to use unless I allow a bunch of unnamed people to have full system level access to my private files.

Not to offend here, but I think that your paranoia is a little funny :D FYI packets are most assuredly being sent to and from your computer as you are reading this :IS2::eek:

Wow, so you guys come in and attack me for having concerns? Bravo. Don't waste your time. I'm not the 'bad guy' because I'm still unsure about PB. Try as you may.

@SuperTaz - I'm fully aware I'm not forced to use PB, and you would know that if you've actually read any of my posts in this thread. I directly asked a representative of TWI if I want to experience the full game (achievements, unlocks, leveling, stat tracking) will I be forced to play on a PB server.. or did you miss my point?

Read this post in full this time, I never did get a response from you -

Well as i said before i do understand your concerns, but in reality i don't think punkbuster will use this information for anything other than cheat and hack detection. And i don't personally consider it an overkill, given the fact that the playerbase will be quite a bit larger than in the first game. And if there is not enough protection you get cases such as homefront and call of duty mw2 where you can't walk out of the spawn without being aimbotted.
And that effectively kills the game in it's start.
