what mods would you like to see for ro hos?

Homefront '46 - the Axis powers have pushed the Allies back to their home shores and are invading the continental United States on both coasts; the Japanese from the Pacific Northwest and the Germans from Chesapeake Bay.

The four playable factions would be Germany, Japan, the United States and the Commonwealth (specifically British and Canadian units depending on the map/theatre).

Obviously the title refers to the recent (and from what I've read, quite poor) game Homefront, but this would be genuinely amazing :)D) and you'd have swarms of Axis troops supported by a relatively meagre number of heavy units such as tanks and aircraft (represented by air strikes).

The Allies would have the advantage in terms of equipment due to the Axis powers' relatively precarious supply lines to and from the Japanese Empire (Japan, Manchuria, Philippines, Dutch East Indies) and Fortress Europe.

This mod would assume that there is still a large-scale naval war ongoing, but obviously the mod itself will only take place in the United States.

So, balance would not be hugely altered from standard WW2 mods such as Darkest Hour, in which you have a larger number of weaker Allied vehicles combating a smaller number of more powerful Axis ones. This balance would remain as a result of the difficulty the Axis powers have in moving their equipment overseas (as mentioned above) whereas the Americans and Canadians/British do not have this problem.

Setting such a mod through the course of a single year - 1946 - means that things can be relatively concise, particularly weaponry and technology.

Well that's it for now, I need to think about this and do lots of research.

Oh, and I need a mod team. :IS2:

I can't but notice the amount of mods mentioned that require almost a complete overhaul of the game.
My suggestion however (i have suggested countless times before!) utilises a lot equipment already in the game.
Spanish Civil War Mod 1936-39
Equipment already in HoS that can be used
Mosin Nagant
DP28
Maxim
MG34
As well as countless artillery weapons such as the 45 mm anti-tank gun M1937 (53-K), 3.7 cm Pak 36 and FlaK 88mm.
A small background story for anyone whos knowledge of the Spanish Civil War is limited.
Spanish Liberal government is elected in 1936
Ultra-Traditionalist Carlists, Fascist Falangists and Christian Popular front rise up against the democratically elected PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers Party) because of the liberal reforms put in place by the regime (such as rights for women ).
Fascist General Francisco Franco rises up in support of the uprising and mobilises the Spanish Army of Africa against the Government. Meanwhile on the mainland the Government Forces have control of most of the peninsula and are fighting back any rebel held areas. Fascist Germany and Italy come to Franco's assistance by airlifting the Army of Africa from Morocco to Spain via Condor Legion (German Volunteers to Spain) aircraft. All out civil war breaks out on mainland Spain. Franco supported by Italy, Germany and Portugal. The Government supported by the Soviet Union. The Communist parties around Europe form committees to send volunteers to Spain to help the government, these are soon formed and named the International Brigades. Equipped with Soviet Weaponry (Officially it was from Mexico to avoid direct contact) the International Brigades stop the Nationalists attack at Madrid and a stalemate ensues. However the Governments forces who were once a Popular Front start disagreeing with one another. Catalonian Anarchists separate from the Government and Basque Nationalists want Autonomy. The PCE (Spanish Communist Party) soon re-establish Government Control in these areas and the Army becomes increasingly Communist Led. Soviet Control of the PCE forces the Government to commit men and resources it doesn't have into audacious attacks such as the Battle of the Ebro for Propaganda victories, these become bogged down and are eventually defeated. The Nationalist forces with military aid and volunteers from Germany and Italy soon overwhelm the Government forces and take control of the Iberian Peninsula shooting anyone sympathetic with the Republic and establish a totalitarian ultra-traditionalist regime.
The Second World War breaks out 5 Months later.
To some this was the first Battle of the Second World War.
To others it was a rehearsal for tactics used in WW2 (Bombing of Civilians, Blitzkrieg tactics and Concentration Camps).
List of Countries where the International Brigades Volunteers came from to defend Democracy.
French
Italians
Germans/Austrians
Poles
Soviets
Americans
British
Belgians
Czechoslovakians
Yugoslavs
Hungarians
Canadians
Swedes
Swiss
Dutch
Bulgarians
Irish
Estonians
Mexicans
Greeks
Cypriots

Presuming all these mods to use similar weapons handling and mechanics to HoS (and i've read nothing yet to the contrary) I wouldn't say they were anything like a complete overhaul.
Most suggestions are >this theatre/setting< done in the 'RO' style - even the warhammer mod.
I'm not wishing to be padantic but i'm pointing out my opinion that half life to resistance and liberation, UT2k4 to RO are examples of complete overhauls - and mods in the truest form - where the total feel is changed.

However you are correct that many suggestions involve a huge amount of asset replacement, and this is always worth considering as the workload is up there with a re-code anyway.

I'm surprised there isn't an expansion of the eastern front mod announced for this very reason - however the person i believed most likely to spearhead this is now involved in the offiicial addon.

Spanish Civil War Mod 1936-39

+1. Would make a great setting for a mod.

Spanish Civil War and Winter War/Continuation War would be my favourite mod settings. Well, actually my alltime favourite would be the Finnish Civil War. It would include Finnish Reds and Whites plus Germans, Swedes and Russians. But that setting wouldn
