It's odd to think; it may seem like time passes slowly, but its only a relatively short time until everything we think of as important will pass into history, and end up as a sidenote in the story of the 21st century. Imagine future students groaning as they have to learn about the Middle Eastern Conflicts of the 2000's for that test.

I can't imagine how nightmarish and boring will be to study the middle eastern conflicts.

the interesting thing is that pretty much all middle eastern conflicts of the last 80 years are a direct result of ww1.

I know that here in Israel the last few conflicts like the first Lebanon war of 1982 or the Intifada of 87 are already in the school/university systems

I was still in school in 2001, thanks to Osama we didn't learn anything on that Wednesday
But the purpose of schools is that you learn to educate yourself it is impossible to cover everything during class
(again)

My history books in public school tended to go pretty far forward; I remember the cold war being in my books from elementary school, and the whole "war on terror" was in my high school books. That being said, we never actually covered any of the material past maybe the 1960's.
