[Movie] The Movie Thread #2

Watched Paranormal Activity 2 yesterday.

One word... terrible.

Only 1 real scare moment, the rest was pretty boring. The first Paranomal Activity was so much scarier, cuz you saw much less for some reason.

SPOILERS OF THE FIRST MOVIE -
1 hour into the film, someone throws the car keys on the floor followed by some shouts and some panic
2 hours into the film, someone switches the lights off and on follow by some panic and some shouts
3 hours into the film the woman kills the man. follow by some panic, shouts and different terrible endings
the end

Saw Avatar: The last Airbender yesterday.

30 minutes in, when they magically teleported to Ba Seng Sei, I stood up and turned it off, exclaiming to my family how I couldn't bare to watch it anymore.
They thanked me saying "At least someone did it."

It's awful, they rushed it, the choice of actors (Specifically, their race) was awful, they didn't stick to their character age/race/personalities, they didn't stick to the storyline at all. Heck, not even Aang's tattoo's were correct, they had to go ahead and try make them look like he had vine's growing on his head.
It was awful, they left out a lot, they magically teleport from one place to another, they make the Fire Nation a bunch of panzies.

I wouldn't recommend anyone watch this, even if they havn't seen the cartoon.

Thank you, you summed everything up just right. Also indian actors(at least the ones they chose) just don't have the ability to project that "Evil tension". The actors look too "nice".

well, actually, it is possible...not exactly helped by the main acting choices (the main characters in the eskimo tribe are magically caucasian), they utterly ruined the main villain, and the "antagonist/rival/thing" is either just the wrong actor or the director must have been quite serious in "directing" him; he was extremely moody, and not in the way he was supposed to (instead of being closer to "anger management problems" it was more like 'watch out serious emo coming through"). Altogether, it could have been a truly excellent movie, but when your director gets your protagonist's name pronounced wrong, you have to just groan.

I'm sick at home, which means...Movie time!

Already I have seen:
The Green Zone: I loved this one, about the search for WMDs and the world of weird intel
Pirate Radio: Was entertaining.
Dr Strangelove and How I learned to love The Bomb: I really like this one. Watch it in the name of our beloved, non-communist, bodily fluids ;)

I watched that yesterday and didn't like it! D:

However, I'm gonna watch The Karate Kid and Harry Brown (Michael Caine!!)

Its all really up to taste with movies; everyone likes different movies, different paces, and different styles.

Also, which should I watch since I have the choice:
Book of Eli
or
The Girl who Played with Fire

Halloween has just passed, but if you're still in the mood Criterion has just released 'Kuroneko'.. a Japanese 'horror' flick from the late 60's featuring samurai killing geisha ghosts! Creepy and sort of surreal, it's a good watch (I'm a sucker for old samurai films).
