Hi everyone,

I've been wanting to own this game for over 4 years, and yesterday, my brother and me decided to buy it through Steam (2 copies). My brother had no perfomance problems, because he owns a very new and powerful machine. Saddly for me, I only own a 3 year old laptop. Theoretically, it has the minimum and even the recommended settings and should run fine, but it won't run better than 18 fps on the smaller maps with 3-4players and 8 to 9 fps on the larger maps with +20 people. It's not intenernet lag, because in practice mode, it's the same sotry.
The settings, of course, are at the lowest possible, no Antialias, lowest textures (really ugly), models and terrain, etc... I've also tried disabling the mouse smoothing, because some people say it increases fps. I also set the Cachesize to 128 Mb, but nothing seems to work.

The question is, how could I increase the fps at least to 26-28 stable so i I could play?
I wouldn't ask this if my system wasn't capable of it, but in theory, it should....

Well, here are my system specs to help you recommend me something:

Hard to read your specs....(try changing it to orange).

It would appear to me that your RAM may be holding you back quite a bit.
I'm not up on AMD cpu's so I can't comment there. But WIN XP and 766MB RAM is pretty low. RAM is pretty cheap right now and doubling or tripleing your current RAM would give you a nice performance boost for almost everything.

Whether or not you get any new RAM, get a good defragmenting program and defrag your hard drive. Some here like defraggler. Its free. If nothing else, perhaps the default Window defragger.

Good luck.

Hey, did you read my mind? LoL, I was just thinking about getting more. I think I'll double it tomorrow up to 2Gb.

Hadn't thought about the defragmentation though, I'll also try it.

I've updated my graphic card drivers and gained some fps ... (now it's 13 to 24 fps) It's almost playable already, but I hope it'll get even better with the extra RAM. And maybe I'll be able to increase the settings a bit.

I really love this game. Have played for years almost every fps, but this game is over all of them. It feels like reality. I play as if it was my life (But luckily isn't). It's also very very hard to play good, but it's a challenge I accept with no doubt.

Do you agree that the RAM will make the difference? The computer needs only a little push to play it smooth on lowest settings.

Well thanks for the help.
