Killing Floor 2 Fall 2020 Update Beta 2: Steam/EGS Build 1104

To opt into this beta on Steam, join the "preview" branch available in the Beta drop down list. Admins will need to use the following SteamCMD flag:
  • app_update 232130 -beta preview

To opt into this beta on EGS, the Beta will be accessible within KF2 owners’ game libraries as a separate install called “Killing Floor 2 Beta”. Users may need to restart their EGS launcher for the Beta to populate and be accessible to install. Progress for stats and inventory are shared between both versions on EGS so for users switching between Beta and Live be sure to sync your game data to use the latest timestamp to prevent any lost progress from participating in the Beta. The Beta on EGS also includes its own dedicated server within the install for your own personal hosting needs for this version.

Rising Storm 2: Vietnam Beta - EOS Backend Support and QoL Fixes

To opt into this beta on Steam, join the "community test beta" branch available in the Beta drop down list.

To opt into this beta on EGS you will need to redeem your Epic code and launch the Rising Storm 2: Vietnam Beta. Users may need to restart their EGS launcher for the Beta to populate and be accessible to install.

After extensive and continued study of bloat bile, the lab coats have managed to re-weaponize it in the form of proximity mine deployable via a Medic launcher device (they tell us you don’t want to be too close, just in case something goes wrong, but also assure us that there are beneficial properties for your team).

May we introduce you to the latest in Horzine medtech research. They call it the Mine Reconstructor. In the field, it can be charged up to deploy mines of different sizes which will increase the damage, radius, and healing properties (And don’t forget you can manually detonate for your teammates who may be down range). Hello Mercs,

The lab coats have been at it again so we are happy to share some information about new Horzine Research Group (HRG) experiments we feel you’ll enjoy bringing into the field.

First up, the HRG Scorcher. The team has modified this baby to shoot flares out downrange with significant impact and a lingering burn. Other pros? Your target (or that wall you hit because you missed your target...) will keep everything around it lit up for easy target acquisition by you and your team!

Now for those looking for something a little more indirect you can try out the alt-fire which will have the flare break up in flight leaving a line of ground fire between you and the target. So get out there Firebugs, and blaze a trail!

Merc Report - Merc Interfacing Improvements

Hello Mercs!

As part of our efforts to continuously improve your in-field experience, the techs have lined up some enhancements across perk abilities, interface and more!

First up is a re-work of the Medic 25 perk Zedative to make it a more compelling choice for the healing mercs out there. Zedative now does the following:
  • During Zed time your perk weapons damage is increased 30%, and your kills generate a toxic explosion that damages Zeds and heal players.

For those not as familiar with the current live Zedative ability, this adds the healing ability to the toxic cloud generated on the ZED deaths. So those who like to live dangerously, life is about to get a little easier for your Medics who have been trying to keep you alive.

  • Server browser filter issues have been improved (full/empty filter still may work incorrectly in certain situations)

  • EGS certain edge case server names could cause problems on client (this was the log spam origin)

EGS PSA: Launch Issues

Welcome to our new Epic Game Store players!

We are excited to see so many new faces join the Killing Floor community. With the launch of the EGS build we have confirmed a few issues and are working on a hotfix to address several of them in short order.

  • Players are getting non suppressed logs when looking at the EGS server browser which is leading to logs which are gigs large which are causing performance issues on the CPU and hard drive read/write speeds
  • Some players are having issues getting servers to show up or find match-made games even after making sure the game is allowed in security software. Killing Floor 2 - Epic Online Services Beta

Hello Killing Floor Community,

It’s been our goal from the outset that Killing Floor 2 can be played and shared with as many players across the globe. To that end, we’re happy to announce that Killing Floor 2 will be coming soon to the Epic Games Store. To ensure that we don’t divide the PC player base, we’ve worked hard to enable cross-play and cross-invite between Steam and EGS versions of the game so that the entire PC community can play together. To enable this functionality you may notice there will be updates in-game to our Invite UI and that we have migrated our VOIP systems to utilize Vivox so that voice chat is possible across platforms. Additionally, for cross-play to function, we have leveraged the power of Epic’s Online Backend Services known as EOS into the PC version of the game as part of our matchmaking and server logic. We understand that we will raise some questions so we would like to be upfront with some of the big ones.
