I got the game on launch and have been able to play it without any kind of issues until yesterday. Upon launching it for the first time today, it seems as if an update has been downloaded (before seeing the "Launching..." window pop-up I quickly see one saying "Installing...") which also appears to have somehow broken EAC. After trying to start the game, I get an application error (0xc0000142) followed by "Fatal application exit". The untrusted file is msvcr80.dll. I have not made any changes to this file in the past 24 hours (let alone any major changes to my PC/ installed any software).

I have the same issue. Worked fine until today when i got the exact same error described above. No changes done to operating system. Tried many fixed found online but nothing worked.

Found fix . Delete files in x:\ steam library\steam apps\ common\ Rising storm 2\ East Anticheat\ Certificates. Then run the game from Steam.

Ah, the "untrusted file" error. Deleting those files, to get a fresh set from Steam is a good solution.
