Vote for bot support on the RS2: Vietnam RoadMap!

Having devs working on creating clever bots, spending their work time on bots, dealing with new problems with the bots after they have been added, and so having less time to put on all the other needed thing to work on is NOT a good thing.

Playing solo local is really NOT what is game is made for (this is PVP multiplayer game, I don't see how this can be a bad thing)

When the player count drops and people want to play on servers, Bots will become a necessity. That time is far in the future, but it will come. Without bot support, when the numbers start to fall, the lack of bots will harm the game further.

Likewise, I'm sure someone can make a way to disable bot farming. Just don't add a point value to them or make it a server setting. The idea of progression in this game, other than squad or team leading is a bit of a joke. You're unlocking cosmetics, not improvements to gun magazines which affect gameplay.

Also, Bots have been a staple product of TWI games. From their Unreal mod of Red Orchestra to this, its a bit of an oddity that the game doesn't have it. I mean, who doesn't like giving RO1 a go every now and again? Now imagine trying to do that without bots. Sure you can play on some Russian server but those pings and the cheating break the game.

Bots are always an excellent feature to a game that depends on multiple players. Lets be real here. A multiplayer only game that last many years is a very rare occasion. Most servers die out, players move on to the next installment or another game all together. Whats left of this multiplayer game? Loners..
So yes..bots are absolutely not a waste of time. Devs are already designing AI for the enemies you play against. Friendly bots increase longevity.

Bots are absolutely necessary in games and time being "wasted" on bots is a poor argument. AI developers are already knee deep in coding enemies you are up against and can continue work on friendlies. Second, bots increase longevity of a game. Lets face it, multiplayer only games rarely last forever. In time, servers empty out, players move on to another installment or another game all together..and whats left of the game? Lone wolf players. At least with the addition of simulated players it gives a reason to return back to a game.
