If Tripwire Interactive does not pick up this idea for a DLC, perhaps I shall lead a mod team to make such a mod. If I ever do I will need some voice actors who can speak the Khmer Language, and maybe some Vietnamese speakers. For all you who don't know the Cambodian-Vietnamese War was a war between the CIA funded Democratic Kampuchea/Coalition Government of Democratic Kampuchea and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam/People's Republic of Kampuchea which lasted from 1979-1991. I was thinking if this is a mod we could start off with just Vietnam and Democratic Kampuchea as the starting faction. However if Tripwire due to some miracle decides to lead the project the Coalition Government of Democratic Kampuchea and People's Republic of Kampuchea could be playable factions?

"What the hell is the difference between all these Commie factions?!" I hear some of you guys asking...Well I was thinking it could have a similar asymmetrical game mechanic as already present in game. For example...
  • Vietnam/People's Republic of Kampuchea gets access to tanks, helicopters, and the latest Soviet weapons and armor.
  • The Khmer Rouge get access to traps, US weapons, strategic defense locations, and light vehicles.
Maps
A few map ideas bellow.
  • Streets of Phnom Penh. Tight urban combat in an abandoned city. Khmer forces get motorcycles, and light armor, while Vietnamese forces get heavy tanks.

  • Killing Field: Welcome to the ricefields mothaf***** A rice-field turned mass burial ground. Very little cover and high visibility. Loudspeakers litter the map blaring propaganda.

Depicted above are bullet holes at Angkor Wat left behind during the war against the Vietnamese.

If you have any ideas for maps, or for anything in general just comment bellow. Now finally a poll for your thoughts on if you would like to see this made or not.
  1. I believe Tripwire should turn this into a DLC for the game. Almost nobody in the west is aware of this conflict and it will shed some light on this period on history.
  2. Tripwire shouldn't waste time, money, and effort into this as a DLC, however if it were a mod I'd be exited, and maybe even help.
  3. Tripwire shouldn't waste time, money, and effort into this as a DLC, however if it were a mod I might check it out, but wouldn't actively help to see it happen.
  4. This particular individual conflict situation shouldn't be made into a mod, but I'd like to see another similar conflict such as The First Indochina War or Sino-Vietnamese War.
  5. Rising Storm 2 was made to focus on the United State's conflict with North Vietnam and the Viet Cong, and should remain as such.
  6. It would be too confusing to westerners to see such a DLC/mod, and that's who this game is targeted towards.
  7. Yes (other reason). State why.
  8. No (other reason). State why.

Neither do I. You have a optimistic idea and the devs need to push out content that makes the game more money, making some hats & cosmetics is the low hanging fruit and it works with almost every game. Get some people together to make a mod out of it and it will either become its own game update like Rising Storm 1 or it will end up like Heros of The West.
