Server Server browser borked

Guys this doesn't make sense. Some of the servers are working without problem never disappearing. And some of them are windows some Linux based. No one has fixed or done anything with these servers, they have been working since the "problem" fine. The server I have been working on has been untouched for the past 2 weeks, and disappeared. (just like your servers) So something strange is going on here.

Hmmmm, first thing this morning I posted the fix that worked for us in DH and for Major Day in RO. It went into 'a forum moderator needs to approve before it's posted' mode, but has never appeared. Oh well, never mind, here it is:

The problem seems to be caused by a Steam update. I don't think it has anything to do with Tripwire, although they sometimes get the blame. Our provider, NFO Servers, got back to me and said the fix involved copying these files from an up-to-date Steam client install onto the server:

Major, do you have a windows server?

I just manually downloaded the steamcmd_linux.tar.gz file and when I extracted it the files are months old. its not been updated.

That package might not be updated, but when you run the SteamCMD client it updates itself.

The servers stopped reporting on or around the 16th. This is in the Steam log on my server:

did your linux based server start to advertise after, I have run those parts it says it udpated no luck.

did this several times last few days. I even extracted files and compared and copied them to try. I have run the updates and saw all the update traffic.

One thing I have learned. the linux steam client was updated on july 2 according to some post I found, but the file steamcmd_linux.tar.gz is the developer community command line client for dedicated servers and it is not the same as the steam linux client. I popped up on a linux box and clicked download on the linux client. I get a steam_latest.deb file not steamcmd_linux.tar.gz. the .gz file is on the developer community site.

If anyone is running a linux server and its advertised, I would love to see the ip addresses in their Steam/logs/connection_log_port.txt.

When I look in bootstrap log I see this....

Hmmmm, first thing this morning I posted the fix that worked for us in DH and for Major Day in RO. It went into 'a forum moderator needs to approve before it's posted' mode, but has never appeared. Oh well, never mind, here it is:

This does not seem to fix Killing Floor though. I just installed a Killing Floor server here on my laptop running Windows 7. I then copied the files listed from my Steam client to the location that SteamCMD is installed overwriting the files already there.

I started the game server and then loaded up the game on my client. I can see the server if I add the public IP to my favorites list, but I can not view the server listing on the server browser. It simply doesn't list. I can also view the status of the server on Gametracker. For the record all the necessary ports are forwarded.

That package might not be updated, but when you run the SteamCMD client it updates itself.

The servers stopped reporting on or around the 16th. This is in the Steam log on my server:

It did update itself.

You have the same error I get. My /package folder has several files
steamcmd_bins_linux.zip.vz.[checksum]
steamcmd_linux.zip.vz.[checksum]
steamcmd_public_all.zip.[checksum]
steam_cmd_linux.installed
setam_cmd_linux.manifest

it appears the steamcmd_bins_linux.zip.vz.[checksum] file is having issue.

the mainifest file has file descriptions, interesting to note that the manifest lists a different file size for both steamcmd_bins_linux.zip.vz.[checksum] and steamcmd_linux.zip.vz.[checksum]

*edit*
been trying to find a way to manually exract a .vz file but nothing shows in internet about that type. unzip and gunzip dont recognize it. the last part of checksum _7171662 is size of the .vz file. My thnking is if I could extact the file I could manually place files.

So,BdMdesigN you can confirm the following?

your server is running and advertising in the in-game browser?
You can join a game and play RO Ost Front?

if so, can you paste a copy of ~/Steam/logs/bootstrap_log.txt and ~/Steam/logs/connection_log_[gameport].txt

Several server admins are reporting servers hosting games are not showing up in in-game browsing since the night of July 15. Windows servers seem to be helped by updating some .dll's. Linux is still having issues getting resolved. We can all join games by manual ip connection.

I have no problem with the steamCMD on Linux. The Update runs fine.

The only thing that is criticized is a not open port:
"Loading Steam3...CreateBoundSocket: ::bind couldn't find an open port between 27037 and 27037".
But this port is on my router and on my SuseFirewall2 open.

if you are not running, and getting this message, I would think by the message that Steam3 cannot start the process that listens on 27037 because it may not be available or in use by another program. paste netstat -a or see if it lists that port in use.

I don't say thats my test server runs correctly. I say only the steamCMD works without an error and download all files.

The server run, i can join and after cardchange i got the error: "Unknown Error ...".
The server don't was advertising in the in-game browser and is not VAC Secured.

"We can all join games by manual ip connection." No you can't. Not on all servers.
And yes i know the problem and it's a STEAMAUTH/SteamAPI problem. I have test it local 2 days and 2 nights.
And the .dll fix don't works on Linux. I try it today with the .so files.

Took a while and I ended up wiping and reloading all over again, but I am finally back online. I guess steam was having to so some fixing on their end.
