Level Design RO Mapping Tutorials?

Will there be mapping tutorials for the RO UED posted on the forum in the future? I remember back a forum or two ago there were several good ones posted, but they don't seem to be around anymore. There are one or two over at MapOrchestra that I know about, but they don't cover a whole lot.

I'm interested in trying my hand at mapping if I can find the time, but I've got no experience with UED.

Before mapping, think about layout and level design, know the differents optimisations (http://angelmapper.com/tutorials/optimization1.htm) and include them in your project BEFORE mapping, you'll gain some time.

If you are a beginner, check this link too : http://angelmapper.com/tutorials/beginner1.htm
For French people, go there : http://www.unreal-design.com/?ID=tutos&K=liste&soft=UED3

Yeah, but it doesn't have anything on detailed terrain or lighting, which is kinda what I need...

But there's no doubt it's a nice manual.

The good thing about the UE2+ engine is that it is fairly well documented on the web. All RO lighting and terrain features are standard UE2+ tech, so you should not have a problem finding tutorials and info about those 2. Especially on unreal wiki and the UDN website.

Try checking out the retail maps, you should probably be able to learn a lot from those...

Yeah I figured that would help. Its just I want a solid foundation until I start messing around otherwise Ill just be wasting my time. I just have to look harder but I havent found a tutorial as good as the RO one yet and UnrealWiki is down right now.

Can you devs give us a definitive set of tutorials that you recommend for each aspect of mapping? You know just like where youd start us off from and then what tutorial we should look at next and so on and so on. Right now Im kind of overwhelmed and dont know where to start after completing the RO one.

Edit: Im really liking the official tutorials (UDN ones). Using these mapping programs makes me wish I could just put my hands inside the monitor into some 3D thing and just carve it out like clay and then have a box of building materials to place in like buildings and stuff like that lol. Im getting the hang of it but its so complicated.
